23 months contract with a Local Authority Job Summary: To drive a range of vehicles for the Passenger Transport Services both within and outside of the borough according to capability licence and suitable training.
Key Duties/Accountabilities (Sample): To drive a range of Council owned or hired vehicles including special purpose vehicles within the bounds of a PCV licence or DI e.g.
coaches minibuses which may have been adapted to the needs of the disabled or light vans from within the Council fleet.
To carry out basic vehicle checks and routine maintenance tasks e.g.
water and oil levels tyre pressures to establish that the vehicle is working efficiently and is roadworthy before being used on the public highway and to report defects in writing using current procedures.
To drive with due regard to other road users and to always conform to all Road Traffic Regulations and Codes of Safe Working.
To ensure that any passengers in the vehicle are seated in a safe and secure manner using onboard safety equipment.
To ensure that any materials or equipment carried in the vehicles are correctly loaded and secure.
To maintain the vehicle(s) in a clean condition by regularly washing and cleaning using the necessary equipment and protective clothing.
To complete all necessary paperwork as required for timesheet fault reporting and other purposes.
To assist other employees by carrying out related tasks as agreed e.g.
assisting escorts.
To drive each journey in the most economical way based on the current conditions.
To take the appropriate steps in the event of an incident accident or a breakdown and follow the current written reporting procedures.
To wear a uniform and protective clothing as always supplied whilst on duty.
Such other duties within the competence of the post holder which may be required reasonably from time to time.
Skills/Experience: Experience of working with children vulnerable and disabled people.
Experience of passenger carrying e.g.
children.
Ability to manoeuvre vehicles and to drive in confined areas.
Ability to accurately fill out paperwork e.g.
timesheets to recognise addresses etc.
Ability to talk to members of the public or other Council employees with tact and patience.
Ability to read a map.
Knowledge of First Aid.
Demonstrate experience of being a flexible and collaborative member of a team.
Demonstrates an enthusiastic and caring approach to working with others Ability to maintain a good standard of appearance whilst on Council duties Ability and willingness to undertake varying driving duties Demonstrates good Customer Care Able to undertake light manual handling duties e.g.
handling people in wheelchairs.

Full UK Driving Licence with Category DI entitlement or PCV entitlement.
Monday Friday 4 6 hours per day Split shifts 23 hours AM and 23 Hours PM Between 20 and 30 hours per week.
