We care for and maintain Norwich's streets, parks, and properties, providing vital environmental and building maintenance services across the city. Now, we are seeking inspirational leaders to take us into the next phase of our growth and service delivery.
Your Role The Operations Director is a central member of our leadership team, working closely with the Managing Director to ensure effective delivery of Environmental Services, as well as leading the 180 employee-strong team. This includes Specialist Cleaning, Grounds Maintenance, Street Cleansing, Arboriculture and Technical Operations. You will have the opportunity to play a fundamental role in ensuring appropriate structures and resources are in place, aiding the Company and the Council in delivering their objectives for the City of Norwich.
As our Operations Director, you will be providing the direction for Environmental Services, taking a commercial approach to implement an operating model, leveraging new technology and best practice techniques to deliver a modernised and responsive service. You'll have responsibility of ensuring efficiencies are maximised, using a solution-focused approach and developing a high-performance culture.
About You We are seeking a dynamic leader with a basis in environmental services including relevant Health and Safety practices and principle. A sound understanding of management at a senior level and operational experience in a related field is essential.
To thrive in this role, you will:
Be able to demonstrate expertise in strategic business planning, budget management and successful delivery. Have experience of working within a political environment and developing strong, effective relationships with Norwich City Council stakeholders, working towards mutual understanding of priorities and objectives. Be experienced in implementing change initiatives and programmes. Work collaboratively with the Managing Director and Board to define and deliver a clear strategic direction for Environmental Services as well as other services and support functions to contribute to an inclusive companywide approach.
