Network Architect Industry : Defence/National Security Location : Solihull - Hybrid Onsite: 1-3 days per week The Opportunity: For over 50 years, the Ministry of Defence has partnered with this Firm to drive value and innovation across its strategic technology investments.
As a WAN Network Architect, you'll join a talented multidiscipline engineering team in building and maintaining critical network infrastructure for the MoD.
The Role: As Networking Technical Lead, you will be responsible for network design, producing configuration documentation, and conducting governance reviews.
Additionally, you will provide hands-on support for technical configuration, implementation, and service handover processes.
Essential Requirements: Sole British UK National holding SC or DV (Developed Vetting) clearance.
10+ years in networking, with at least 3 years in a design or architect role; suitable for Network Design Engineers transitioning to architecture.
Proven experience with Cisco and Juniper technologies, with the ability to produce comprehensive high and low-level design documentation.
Strong networking knowledge supported by certifications such as CCNA, CCNP (Cisco), and JNCIS-ENT (Juniper).
Expertise in WAN routing protocols (MPLS, BGP, IS-IS) and knowledge of IPsec, GRE, and encryption.
Familiarity with Juniper products (SRX, MX) and JUNOS OS, along with extensive experience in LAN switching (Juniper EX and Cisco switches).
Demonstrated network operations, troubleshooting abilities, and understanding of the networking service lifecycle from requirements to implementation.
Effective in customer-facing roles, including meetings and documentation reviews, with the capability to manage security services and ensure smooth transitions to operations.
