The Opportunity We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Net Zero Technical Lead to join our innovative team focused on driving sustainable solutions in the fight against climate change.

Main responsibilities Lead the development and execution of strategies to achieve net zero carbon emissions across the Client estate.
Undertake detailed energy audits and feasibility studies and investigations to produce accurate, quality reports detailing the improvements necessary to reduce energy use and carbon dioxide.
Create targeted plans for the highest carbon footprint assets and identify the most cost-effective way that carbon can be reduced in these sites.
Create an overall carbon reduction plan that demonstrates current carbon performance and the impact of the proposed changes to Client's overall carbon performance and a long-term five-year carbon reduction plan that identifies how the client can achieve the 2050 net zero carbon targets.
Provide technical and operational advice and support on carbon reduction and energy efficiency to all stakeholders and monitor the energy (and associated emissions) and water consumed in the council's portfolio of buildings, including schools.
Develop and advise on specific energy strategy/ solutions for new build and refurbishment projects and to improve existing building's Energy Performance to achieve future corporate energy reduction targets.
Develop and manage the net zero budget, ensuring proper allocation of resources for initiatives, projects and ongoing monitoring.
Seek external funding opportunities and grants to support sustainability initiatives and identify opportunities for innovation and improvement in sustainability practices.
Maintain, develop and report data and KPI's relating to properties in the Client's portfolio in terms of decarbonisation and provide insights.
Ensure that the strategic asset management plan, incorporates decarbonisation at all levels of facilities management.
Work with the wider Macro FM team to ensure that the Client's Greener Future team's ambition is incorporated into Business as usual.
Support Client on their key decarbonisation and sustainability programs including (but not limited to): Greener futures communities.
Net zero public estates.

Grow back greener.
Evaluate and recommend the adoption of emerging technologies, renewable energy sources and energy-efficient practices to optimise operations and reduce environmental impact.
Engage with external partners, consultants and government agencies as needed to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and leverage external expertise.
Lead and participate in educational and awareness-building initiatives to promote a culture of net zero within the organisation.
Liaise with the technical teams across the portfolio to ensure Macro technical and compliance services and vendors are working to support the function.
Fully establish and continually review client needs and expectations and to ensure systems, procedures and resources are in place to ensure those needs are delivered.
Develop knowledge base across the portfolio to drive innovation and best in class technical activities across the location.
Monitor performance data for the technical compliance and targeted technical targets and provide insight to wider team on recommendations or improvements.
Create compelling business cases to change, enhance or improve operations.
Deliver on our key Technical contractual performance targets.
Subject matter expert in all areas of Energy Management.
The ideal candidate will have: Technical FM experience.
Excellent working knowledge ISO 50001.
Familiarity with SBTi methodologies, CDP, TCFD, climate-related risk assessment and scenario analysis.
Data analysis capabilities and familiarity with BI systems.
Experience of web-based applications/ software.
MSc or equivalent in Energy Management Good IT skills, advanced user of MS Office and associated packages.
Member of relevant professional institution Experience managing a team remotely.
Higher qualification/HND or equivalent in a relevant discipline.
Quality competency, Six sigma etc.
People Management.

Positive and proactive approach to problem solving.
Energy Management qualification.
Commercial acumen.
