National Sales Manager Location: Nationwide Reports to: Managing Director Salary: Competitive, with bonus scheme & company car allowance About the Company: We are working with a leading supplier of high-quality bricks and building materials across the UK.
As part of their growth strategy, they are looking for a dynamic National Sales Manager to lead and inspire the nationwide sales team, drive sales performance, and expand market share.
Role Overview: As National Sales Manager , you will play a key role in driving sales growth and expanding their presence across the UK.
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will lead a team of Area Sales Managers and work closely with key customers, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams.
This is a leadership role with a focus on strategy, team development, customer relationship management, and sales performance.
Key Responsibilities: Sales Strategy & Leadership Formulate and execute a national sales strategy aligned with the company's goals, focusing on Builders Merchants, Developers, and Self Builders.
Set and manage annual, quarterly, and monthly sales targets for the team, ensuring they are met or exceeded.
Lead and inspire a nationwide team of Area Sales Managers, providing coaching, performance reviews, and mentorship.
Identify and implement performance improvements for the Area Sales Manager team to optimize sales effectiveness.
Develop and maintain relationships with key customers, ensuring high customer satisfaction and loyalty.
Team Development & Coaching Implement a structured coaching program for each Area Sales Manager, including regular one-to-one meetings and field visits.
Foster a collaborative and results-oriented team culture that drives performance and accountability.
Oversee recruitment and team development, ensuring the right talent is hired to meet future sales goals.
Deliver engaging sales meetings that motivate, educate, and align the team with business objectives.
Sales Performance & Reporting Manage the national sales budget, ensuring efficient resource allocation and maximising sales revenue.
Monitor and analyse sales performance, identifying trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
Prepare regular sales reports for the Managing Director, offering insights on key metrics, forecasts, and challenges.
Use data and CRM tools to track sales activities and performance, ensuring alignment with business strategy.
Customer & Market Focus Support Area Managers in managing high-value sales opportunities and building long-term customer relationships.
Stay informed on market trends, competitor activity, and regulatory changes, providing insights to product development and marketing teams.
Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and networking opportunities to promote the brand.
Collaboration with Internal Teams Work closely with marketing to develop effective promotional materials, campaigns, and initiatives that drive brand awareness and sales.
Coordinate with production and logistics teams to ensure customer demand is met and service delivery is maintained.
Qualifications & Skills: Experience : At least 5 years of progressive sales experience, including 1+ years in a leadership or managerial role.
Industry Knowledge : Understanding of the construction and building materials sector is beneficial but not essential.
Leadership : Proven ability to lead and motivate a geographically dispersed sales team.
Sales Acumen : Strong sales skills with the ability to build strategic partnerships and drive growth.
Analytical Skills : Experience interpreting sales data and market trends to guide decision-making.
Communication : Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present effectively at all levels.
Customer-Focused : Proven ability to build long-term relationships with customers and stakeholders.
Education : A-level standard (degree preferred but not required).
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): Achievement of sales targets and objectives.
New business acquisition and market share growth.
Customer satisfaction and retention rates.
Team performance, development, and leadership effectiveness.
Profit margin on product sales.
