Duties Include Advising and assisting in the design of new plant to ensure that best practice for the maintenance of hygiene, health, and safety is adhered to.
Ensuring all plant and equipment is maintained and in good repair, servicing is carried out within defined timescales, and all engineering work is carried out in accordance with best practice.
Managing the services of external contractors to ensure work is completed to company requirements, within defined time scales, and adheres to Food Safety and Health and Safety requirements.
Ensuring all plant and equipment are checked before the start of production.
Ensuring the methods used for calibrating and checking measuring and test equipment and the calibrations carried out by the contractors are reviewed regularly.
Identifying training requirements and ensuring all relevant personnel have adequate training and knowledge to operate machinery.
Ensuring planned preventive maintenance schedules exist for plant, equipment, and building fabric in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations and agreements by the company and repair and maintenance enable correct operation and function.
Ensuring company policies, procedures, and standards are followed.
Ensuring engineering records are accurately maintained and presented in a timely manner.
Liaising with the relevant management regarding engineering issues which are detrimental to production requirements.
