Job summary This is a great opportunity for an enthusiastic MSK Sonographer to join our team in a full time or part time role on a permanent basis.The Imaging Department at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has recently been re-accredited with the QSI and is undergoing a significant asset replacement programme.
An exciting opportunity exists to play a key role in the effective planning, development, organisation and delivery of MSK ultrasound provision within the Trust.
This will also include leading on MSK ultrasound training for sonographers and medical staff working collaboratively with the MSK Consultant Radiologists; Ultrasound Training Leads.The successful applicant will work as an autonomous MSK ultrasound practitioner, whilst maintaining a close working relationship with MSK Consultant Radiologists and key referring clinicians to steer and develop an innovative and leading edge MSK Ultrasound service.
Main duties of the job Our Radiology Academy is one of the three academies nationwide and offers excellent opportunities for training and research.
We are working closely with the Norwich Radiology Academy and University of East Anglia to develop these further and encourage sub specialisation in key clinical areasContinuous Professional Development is actively supported through an established appraisal system, in-service training and opportunities for further post graduate study in line with operational needs and strategic vision.To provide highly specialist, expert clinical MSK ultrasound knowledge by acting as a clinical resource in the ultrasound department, to facilitate an effective high quality and evidence-based service to enhance patient care.
To undertake general ultrasound as required for example general abdominal and DVT's.

To lead and facilitate MSK ultrasound based clinical research/audit and initiate/implement evidence-based practice.
To undertake complex MSK interventional procedures under ultrasound guidanceTo provide highly specialist input into the Trust clinical governance agenda, influencing the delivery of patient care, working at any site as required.
This is a busy role with varying demands, so building an effective rapport with patients and colleagues and being ready to take guidance and offer your support will be will be able to communicate effectively with colleagues and patients.
Including discussing the findings of the ultrasound examination with the patient, and interpreting, reporting, recording and referring on as required all within the protocols of the department.
You will be able to plan your own workload and organise others in the work area Mentoring and supervising the work of newly qualified staff, students and assistants undergoing formal ultrasound training and participate in the training of medical staff as required is expected.
Work autonomously undertaking different shift patterns at NNUH, and at other locations, as required in the provision of a 7 day ultrasound service.
Hold a Post Graduate qualification at masters level, achieving the following or equivalent; MSc Ultrasound, MSK speciality.
You will be registered on the appropriate part of the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) register.
Person Specification Qualifications Essential Hold a relevant first degree or diploma (BSc or DCR) Post Graduate qualification at master's level - achieving the following or equivalent : MSc Ultrasound, MSK speciality.
Postgraduate qualification in Education/Teaching or equivalent evidenced experience Experience Essential Highly specialist MSK ultrasound knowledge must be up to date and underpinned by evidenced theoretical and practical experience.
Extensive practical experience of MSK therapies and guided injections Ability to effectively train other members of staff including all medical & clinical staff at undergraduate & postgraduate levels.
Skills Essential Demonstrate the understanding of the need for regular audit to advance and improve the service and for research when appropriate.
Produce protocols/policies - for both clinical and training aspects of the MSK Ultrasound service Demonstrate enhanced clinical leadership skills Attitude, aptitude Essential Effective role model, demonstrating NNUH's PRIDE values of People focussed, Respect, Integrity, Dedication and Excellence Demonstrates understanding and commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
