Job Title: MS Access Database Administrator Job Description: (NB: If Concur access will be required as part of this role, please read below before completing this document) The role is a temporary position to deliver some enhancements to a Microsoft Access database used as a data-gathering and reporting tool.
The role will require strong MS Access skills with a proven track record of building and maintaining MS Access databases in a business, public service or academic environment.
The assignment is a short-term engagement with two primary goals: Review existing databases and implement a general overhaul (e.g.
identifying and deleting unused tables / forms / queries) Clone the database to perform a similar function for a difference business unit In addition to this work, the incumbent will be required to work alongside colleagues using the database to drive reporting deliverables enabling them to identify and implement opportunities to deliver these services more effectively.
If successful in the core tasks above, there is an opportunity to extend the assignment to give more focus to this improvement piece.
The candidate will need: Strong technical skills; A pro-active approach and ability to plan their own work and sub-goals; MS Excel skills would complement their MS Access knowledge The person will be given an overview of the database and the original architect will be available for questions.
But the database is largely undocumented, so the candidate should be confident in their ability to reverse-engineer requirements.
Insurance and / or insurance-broking background knowledge is not a requirement, but would be beneficial.
