Job summary Milton Keynes Mental Health Support Teams are looking for qualified registered Mental Health Practitioners to join the established service.Applicants must be a qualified and registered Education Mental Health Practitioner (EMHP) or a Children and Young People Wellbeing Practitioner (CWP); or qualified and registered Mental Health Nurse, Occupational Therapist or Social Worker with previous consolidated post graduate experience of working with young people with emotional and mental health issues and with experience of delivering evidenced-based CBT interventions for mild to moderate mental health issues to CYP both individually and in groups.We seek to appoint dynamic individuals who are enthusiastic about improving health outcomes for children and young people.MK MHST works with Young people with mild to moderate mental health presentations attending school.The purpose of the team is to Provide evidence-based interventions for mild to moderate mental health issues.Support the senior mental health lead in each education setting to introduce or develop their whole school or college approach.Give timely advice to school and college staff, and liaising with external specialist services, to help children and young people to get the right support and stay in education.
Main duties of the job You will be part of a Mental Health Support Team (MHST) created to increase access and availability of mental health and wellbeing support for children and young people and to play a key part in a team of people delivering low intensity interventions into schools and other settings in MK.
You will work alongside EMHPs, CWPs, Senior Wellbeing Practitioners, Team Leaders.
You will undertake assessments of children and young people and deliver evidence based low intensity group and individual interventions to children and young people with mild to moderate anxiety and depression and/or behavioural difficulties and their families and carers.
You are expected to work in schools closely with school staff to support CYP, their families and staff to foster a whole school approach to mental well-being.
This role requires flexibility and adaptability and above all, a desire to work with children and young people with mental health difficulties within an educational context.
There is professional development opportunity for applicants who have not yet completed the PG Certificate in Supervision for Children and Young People's Services or Senior Wellbeing Practitioner training.
Other service specific training in a range of evidence based therapeutic modalities is also available.

If this moves goes ahead as proposed the successful candidate would be based at the Open University site.For further information about this job please see attached job description Person Specification Qualifications Essential oRelevant professional qualification in either: oDegree level Mental Health Nursing, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or equivalent substantial or HEE Postgraduate Diploma in Education Mental Health Practice or Postgraduate Diploma in Psychological Wellbeing Practice for children and young people oAdditional qualifications or training in child and adolescent mental health gained through accredited courses workshops, study and in-house training programmes.
CBT training ( CYP-IAPT) oRegistered with a relevant professional body eg BPS or BABCP Experience Essential oConsolidated post graduate experience working in child and adolescent mental health.
oExperience of delivering evidenced-based CBT interventions for mild to moderate mental health issues such as anxiety, low mood and behavioural problems to CYP both individually and in groups oExperience either working as a member of a multi-disciplinary team or multi-agency working.
oKnowledge of risk management and ability to monitor and assess risk and act accordingly to ensure safety Desirable oKnowledge and experience in mental health promotion work.
Communication Essential oGood communication, assessment, planning and recording skills.
