Role: Onsite Mechanical Engineer Location : Port of Nigg, Scotland Start date: 15-Jan Reporting to the Mechanical Package Manager Outline of Responsibilities: The Onsite Mechanical Engineer will oversee and manage the mechanical engineering aspects of site, ensuring high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.
This role involves the direct application of mechanical engineering principles to support the design, installation, testing, and maintenance of mechanical systems on-site.
The engineer will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, including construction crews, contractors, and project stakeholders, to deliver project requirements within set deadlines and budgets.
To follow up daily site activities for mechanical works and support the design team as needed.
Key Responsibilities: Project Oversight: Supervise the installation, operation, and maintenance of mechanical systems, including HVAC, piping, and structural equipment.
Quality Control: Ensure all mechanical work complies with design specifications, standards, and applicable safety regulations.
Conduct inspections and testing to verify quality and functionality.
Technical Guidance: Provide technical support and troubleshooting for mechanical issues on-site.
Identify and resolve engineering challenges to keep the project on track.
Collaboration: Work alongside project managers, structural and electrical engineers, and contractors to coordinate workflows, resolve conflicts, and optimize efficiency.
Documentation and Reporting: Prepare and maintain accurate records, including daily progress reports, technical documentation, and project logs.
Report any discrepancies or issues to the Project Manager.
Health and Safety: Ensure all mechanical engineering activities comply with safety standards and protocols.
Conduct risk assessments and enforce safe working practices.
Cost and Time Management: Monitor project timelines and budget constraints, ensuring that mechanical engineering activities remain within scope.
Propose cost-effective solutions and improvements where feasible.
Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering within the construction or industrial sector, with demonstrated on-site experience.
Certifications: Relevant Health and Safety certifications, are preferred.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS, or similar software; knowledge of mechanical systems design, HVAC, and piping.
Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities, communication skills, and team collaboration capabilities.
Other Requirements: Valid driver's license and willingness to work on-site.
