Job summary An exciting new post has arisen for an experienced Diabetes Dietitian to join our team.
The post holder will be required to develop the Gestational Diabetes service along with the post-natal service.
The post holder will need to provide expert guidance and advice to patients and work closely with the Multi-disciplinary Team.
Main duties of the job To provide a specialist, effective, flexible clinical dietetic service to the Maternity Diabetes Service at UHP.
This includes antenatal and postnatal care.
The post will cover mostly outpatient work, however ward reviews will be done for maternity patients requiring input To lead and develop the GDM service to include MDT clinics and delivery of education for those diagnosed in pregnancy; work alongside the diabetes specialist midwife, diabetes specialist nurse, diabetologists and obstetric consultants in the GDM and pre-existing diabetes service.
Develop a post-natal service/clinic/group for patients with diabetes in pregnancy/pre-existing diabetes to provide specific nutritional education and support.
To provide expert guidance and advice to other members of the Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) within Maternity and Antenatal.
The post holder will undertake research and audit on a regular basis to ensure that practise is evidence based.
To lead service development within own clinical area and contribute to the day to day running and development of the dietetic service through the promotion, adaptation and development of policies, procedures and guidelines using evidence-based practise and current research.
To provide leadership for the dietetic service within Maternity and Antenatal Diabetes service.
To plan, coordinate, deliver and evaluate the dietetic service.
