If so, we have an exciting opportunity to gain some work experience and contribute your time and skills to help support critical marine conservation work.
Blue Marine Foundation is a UK ocean conservation charity set up in 2010 by some of the team behind the award-winning documentary film 'The End of the Line'.
Blue Marine aims to restore the ocean to health by addressing overfishing, one of the world's biggest environmental problems.
Blue Marine is dedicated to creating marine reserves, restoring vital habitats and establishing models of sustainable fishing.
Its mission is to see at least 30 per cent of the world's ocean under effective protection by 2030 and the rest responsibly managed.
About the work experience You will work alongside colleagues over a period of one week, giving you experience in the following: Solent Oyster Restoration – with the opportunity to learn firsthand and take part in oyster cage monitoring Media – blog writing and raising awareness of ocean conservation through media channels International/UK projects – exposure to the wide range of project work involved in marine conservation.
This is a unique opportunity to learn and train with some of the most leading and pioneering minds in marine conservation, and a chance to develop strong, transferrable skills that will be useful across the wider sector.
What you'll need Strong interest in marine conservation or another environmental cause Excellent verbal and written communication skills A quick learner with strong attention to detail.
Additional information This opportunity is for one week's work experience between Monday 2 December – Friday 6 December 2024 and will include one day's field work in Southampton.
The remainder of the week will be based at Blue Marine's office in Somerset House, London, WC2R 1LA.
All reasonable travel and subsistence expenses for the week will be reimbursed.
