Managing Director, Hamlyns and Grampian Oat Products, a Morning Foods Company About The Opportunity: Leading Hamlyns and Grampian Oat Products as part of Morning Foods wider portfolio, and managing our key site at the mill in Boyndie, Aberdeenshire, we are currently looking to recruit our next Managing Director.

This is a hands-on role, primarily responsible for the general management of the site, including production, packaging and wider site operations including renewable energy projects and capex growth initiatives.

The Managing Director is the head of a team of 53 people, with overall accountability for:
The smooth and efficient operation of the site; The timely fulfilment of consistent and high-quality products; Roles & responsibilities of the staff, their welfare & development; and Site health & safety and compliance with regulatory matters.
The Managing Director is responsible for relationships at a practical level with customers, suppliers, regulators, subcontractors, and other local stakeholders.
They are the key identifier and enabler of capital projects and continuous improvement initiatives.

The Managing Director will be accountable for the overall P&L and performance of the site, aided by a leadership team that includes a Head of Technical, Head of Production and Engineering Manager, with local Sales and Marketing outsourced to an agency and Group Sales and Marketing and Shared Services centralised in Crewe with Morning Foods.

Over and above this there is a significant focus on continuous improvement and efficiencies in the operation being driven through exceptional leadership as well as automation as appropriate.

The Managing Director is also the key stakeholder in the development of both the main brand of Hamlyns, and Grampian's wider brands and white-label reputation during customer account visits.
They will also be expected to represent the Company at industry events, trade shows, and conferences.

The successful candidate, will be based in or be able to relocate to the area and bring leadership experience from within an operations and productions environment, either in Site or Managing Director level experience or from functional leadership across Production, Engineering, Finance or Supply Chain looking to step into a first time Managing Director position.

The successful candidate will either come from an existing MD or Site Director background or have led complex operations within production, manufacturing, engineering or supply chain and be looking to take their first Managing Director / Site Director step-up.

Hamlyns of Scotland is a leading brand of Scottish porridge oats and oatmeal which are grown, milled and packaged on site in Boyndie, or through our white label business for the likes of Waitrose, Marks and Spencers and Sainsburys this sire has been managed by a family with 14 generations of history in oat milling and the Hamlyns brand dates back to 1965.

Both brands encompass an entire standalone business unit and entity with it's own Board and Leadership Team, reporting to and attending also the Board of market leading parent company and the UK's 4th oldest family business, Morning Foods.
