Maintenance Assistant

Job summary An opportunity hasarisen for an enthusiastic, conscientious, and dedicated maintenance assistant to join the shift maintenance assistants team who supportthe maintenance and repair of engineering/building systems, equipment andcomponents at NHS/Health buildings maintained by CHoICE Facilities Services.
Therole will require you to support various trade staff as part oftheir day-day activities and undertake non-complex repairs and plannedmaintenance tasks to help CHoICE achieve and deliver its statutory, mandatoryand best practice commitments to its existing partners.
You will have a building/engineeringbackground and able to demonstrate that they possess relevant skills anddeveloped knowledge having worked in an industry related role for several yearswhilst possessing several short industry related formal qualifications.
As partof highly diverse role, the successful candidate will have the opportunity supportthe maintenance of several large-scale systems typically found within a largeAcute NHS Trust.
Typical systems will include: general power systems, lightingincluding emergency lighting systems, nurse call systems, hot and cold watersystems, drainage systems, ventilation systems, steam system, heating systemsand medical gas systems.
The rolewill require the participation in the current rolling 365-day shift pattern andwill also require participation within the winter measures on-call rota ofwhich appropriate payments will be made.
Main duties of the job All applicants must have a positive,friendly and co-operative manner whilst being prepared to be flexible to meetthe service needs of the Trust.
The role will require successful applicants touse their own initiativewhen undertaking a range of non-complex problem-solving scenarios to allow fora satisfactory outcome whilst adapting to the changing demands of the role.
As wellas completing a range of non-complex planned maintenance activities, successfulapplicants will also be required to assist all Engineering & Building Tradestaff in their day-to-day activities to allow them to undertake the: installation, commissioning, maintenance,service and repair of all engineering & building related building fabric,equipment and installations at properties maintained by CHoICE FacilitiesServices.

Job description Job responsibilities The role serves three primary purposes within CFS Hard FM: To provide assistance to trades personsin their undertaking of maintenance, repairs and installation activities asappropriate to allow them to work towards fully maintaining and repairing the engineering/buildingservices maintained by CFS.
To undertake non-complex engineering/buildingdefects and maintenance activities across the full range of engineering &building systems/services maintained by CFS.
The role will typically requirefirst level response to defects and maintenance with non-complex/minoractivities completed and more complex elements/scenarios escalated to theappropriate trade staff via an engineering/building supervisor.
To participate in the rolling CFSMaintenance Assistant shift pattern/system and support in the completion ofplanned maintenance and reactive maintenance tasks.
