Live-In Support Worker Required For Young Adult Living With Cerebral Palsy

Details of the offer

Job DescriptionThis role would suit a highly motivated young (at heart) live-in support worker with a passion for complex care needs in younger adults.
Our client is living with cerebral palsy and uses a motorised chair.
He attends university and is studying mathematics.
Whilst he requires support with all aspects of his personal care, he is keen to live his life to the full and wants to be involved with all aspects of a social life that is appropriate for his age.
Whilst, as an employer, we welcome all applications, he and his family would prefer that our successful candidate is a younger female who is able to drive and has access to reliable, suitable transport, although they will consider all applicants on their own merits.
QualificationsPrior to coming to us this family have been unsuccessful in finding consistent support, as much of what has been provided concentrated on our client's 'care needs' and not on our client's self worth.
It is imperative that the successful candidate is proactive and acts on their own initiative.
They must have a sense of humour and be willing to engage in social activities as well as supporting his ability to live well with dignity.
Our successful candidate will be patient in order that our client has time to make and execute choices and achieve personal goals.
This would suit someone who has a high level academic history but who has a passion for bringing joy and is not afraid to get stuck in.
Given the complexity of need, this would suit someone who has had experience of supporting complex needs in younger adults.
Additional InformationThe successful candidate will need to be flexible as this is likely to be a 5 day permanent placement with days varying depending on activities for that week.
Therefore our preferred candidate will be living within the Portsmouth area.
Applicants should be over the age of 18 please. This role is UK based and the right to work in the UK will need to be established as part of the recruitment process. We encourage applications from all sections of the community as we want to reflect the?neighbourhoods?in which we work.
Home Instead are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of adults and expects all staff to share this commitment. This role is subject to DBS enhanced disclosure and satisfactory references.
