Job Opportunity: Legal Counsel Location: London Salary : £100,000 We are currently seeking an experienced Commercial/Corporate Lawyer to join an in-house legal team within the marine energy sector.
This position offers the opportunity to work with an internationally recognized company, managing a range of legal matters including corporate, commercial, finance, regulatory, and compliance issues.
About the Role The successful candidate will join a dynamic team and handle a broad array of legal responsibilities.
You will work autonomously on drafting and negotiating commercial and corporate agreements, structuring transactions, and providing real-time legal advice on business matters.
Additionally, you'll collaborate closely with various departments—trading, credit, finance, and operations—across multiple international offices.
Key Responsibilities: Corporate and Regulatory Support : Provide guidance on corporate and regulatory matters relevant to marine energy commodities such as LNG and alternative fuels.
Group Structuring and Compliance : Advise on group structuring, licensing, and corporate governance, ensuring compliance with standards and regulations.
Business Expansion : Offer legal support on new business ventures, evaluating risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.
Contract Drafting and Negotiation : Draft and review commercial agreements, including NDAs, sale and purchase agreements, and strategic partnerships.
Corporate Transactions : Oversee legal documentation for transactions, including JVs, M&As, and shareholder agreements.
External Counsel Management : Coordinate with external legal counsel on specialized matters.
Team Development : Mentor junior team members and promote a collaborative learning environment.
Requirements Essential : Qualified solicitor (England and Wales) with 2–3 years of relevant post-qualification experience.
Strong expertise in corporate and commercial contracts within the energy sector, excellent communication skills, and relationship-building ability.
Desirable : International legal experience, foreign language proficiency, and prior in-house experience.
