Milestone, part of the RSK Group, is seeking a Junior Buyer looking to develop or advance a career in procurement to join our expanding team.
This is a full time, permanent role based at our office in Old Dalby, Leicestershire. Day to day you will be sourcing and booking plant and materials for small, high turnover and changeable contracting works on telecoms, renewable and digital media infrastructure sites.
Our crews are located across the UK so some resourcing will be required.
You will be process orientated, resourceful under pressure and highly organised to ensure sites are able to go ahead at the best value. Milestone Communications, including Media and Solar & Renewables departments, is a specialist civil, electrical, and mechanical engineering contractor that works in the UK's infrastructure industries.Milestone also offers an in-house steel production unit as a supply or supply and install service for stainless or mild steel, fabricating to BS1090-ex2 standard.Key Responsibilities:Source service, plant and materials for UK based sites and the steel fabrication workshopProactively negotiate with suppliersRaise & issue purchase orders complying with the company procedureCoordinate site bookings, produce schedules of delivery confirmations and reschedule delivery dates when requiredResolve supplier queries and internal concernsKeep supplier records and material pricing up-to-dateProduce estimating tenders and contribute to contract negotiationsDrive process improvements and identify cost-saving opportunitiesMonitor & report on supplier performance within company processIdentify and source new suppliers when requested following the procurement practice and correct onboarding procedurPerson Specification:DesirableExperience in contracting, civil engineering, steel production or electrical industriesExperience in a fast paced, reactive industryEssentialRelevant experience in purchasing, supply chain, or administrative roles (preferred)Excellent organisation skills and high level of attention to detail.Ability to multitask across multiple small sites, effectively self-managing own workload and prioritiesExcellent communication skills across all business stakeholders.Demonstratable negotiation skillsIdeal candidate: Persistent in following up on tasks and requestsWill work with the business best practise in mind at all timesCompetitive nature to get the best valueProactive and enthusiastic about building skills and knowledgeCollaborative team player with a flexible, hands-on approachSalary and Benefits:£25,000 - £27,000 depending on experienceLife Assurance paymentsGym and lifestyle discounts, shopping and eating outCycle to Work SchemeElectric Vehicle SchemePayroll GivingHealth Cash PlanDigital GPMental Health SupportBereavement Counselling & HelplineMortgage & Financial AdviceRetirement PlanningInterview process: We aim to hold interviews the week commencing 6th and 13th JanuaryInterviews will be held in 2 parts at the office location in Old Dalby.
