If yes, we are looking for a Java Engineer to join our team in Gloucester, with hybrid working between home and office.
This is a key role in our journey to build technologies across our Bespoke Platform and across the business, and you will be working within our Continuous Improvement Team and at Programme level, using the Scrum Framework.

Key responsibilities Design and Development: Create and maintain Java-based applications, ensuring they are high-volume and low-latency Requirement Analysis: Analysing user requirements to define business objectives and system functionality Coding and testing: Write clean, efficient and testable code; conduct software analysis, testing and debugging to ensure the applications run smoothly; work with the shift-left principle to write automation tests Documentation: Create detailed design documentation and technical specifications Collaboration: Work closely with other developers in the team, Product Owners, Scrum Masters, Technical Lead and Delivery Lead to determine product requirements and scope System Integration: Integrate Java-based applications with other systems and databases Maintenance: Regularly update and maintain existing applications to improve functionality and performance Scrum: Work in the Scrum Framework, and proactively seek new ways of working Knowledge, skills and experience Experience of developing enterprise scale Java applications (Java 11+) Ability to write Automated tests (we use Virtuoso) Understanding of relational databases Knowledge of JavaScript Frameworks Experience with Git, Git Flow and BitBucket Version Control Knowledge of working with Jenkins pipelines The ability to engage and co-operate in productive working relationships Understanding of software design and software architecture principles What we offer A competitive salary - let's discuss it Group Personal Pension - up to 12% employer contribution Generous annual bonus scheme up to 24% 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, and a holiday buy and sell scheme An array of health and wellbeing benefits, including private healthcare, income protection and life assurance Up to £400 annual personal grant to a charity of your choice Encouraged to take at least one volunteering day per year Employee Assistance Programme Full study support to gain professional qualifications About us Benefact Group is a unique international financial services Group made up of over 30 businesses.
