The Opportunity As our next Investigation Learning Lead, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring the HPC Project fulfils its obligation to deliver effective self-regulation and complies with the Nuclear Site Licence (LC7) requirement to learn from site incidents.
In this role, you will drive continuous improvement in safety across the project, overseeing observation and incident investigations in line with best practices and company policies.
You will lead major investigations, review outcomes from others, and make evidence-based recommendations to ensure key factors are identified, corrective actions are implemented, and lessons learned are fully embedded.
Reporting to the HPC Site Learning & Continuous Improvement Manager, this role plays a vital part within the Site Nuclear Compliance Function under the Project Construction Directorate.

What you will be doing In this dynamic role, you will take the lead in managing and coordinating investigations on the HPC Project from start to finish.
This includes initiating investigations, gathering evidence, analysing findings, identifying root causes, and implementing corrective actions to ensure lessons learned are embedded to prevent future occurrences.
You will own the Investigation Review Meeting, providing essential support to the committee, while also empowering trained investigators across the project to complete investigations promptly.
Your responsibilities will extend to overseeing the governance processes for accepting recommendations from all investigation levels and managing a dedicated team to handle the supporting administration, including utilising the Project's electronic learning tool.
Additional responsibilities include: Review and enhance the Project's investigation processes to identify areas for improvement.
Provide expert advice on applying investigation processes, using best practices to elevate output quality.
Lead incident and investigation matters, fostering the development of trained investigators from NNB and Contract Partners through the Investigator's Community of Best Practice.
Deliver tailored training for investigators and Sponsoring Managers to ensure their success.
Manage the most complex cases, driving them forward in line with challenging KPIs and performance standards.
Analyse investigation outcomes to identify risks, assessing whether proposed actions are adequate to prevent reoccurrence.
Produce high-quality analysis and documentation, setting a standard for less experienced investigators.
Conduct trending analyses of investigation causes, alerting relevant areas to trends requiring further improvement.
Engage stakeholders to ensure effective communication of lessons learned internally and externally, monitoring success.
Provide specialised feedback on Effectiveness Reviews following investigations and corrective actions.
Who you are To thrive in this role, you'll bring a wealth of knowledge and hands-on experience in investigation techniques, showcasing your ability to apply them effectively.
A solid understanding of current health and safety legislation is essential, along with strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Additionally, your leadership experience in managing a team will be crucial for providing top-notch support and ensuring quality outcomes.
Additional requirements for this role include: A degree, or equivalent qualification, in a relevant field would be advantageous Possess strong knowledge of nuclear operations, construction, engineering, safety, or environmental management.
Understand regulatory requirements for nuclear facilities and major infrastructure projects.
Exhibit logical thinking, analytical skills, and proficiency in computer operations.
Collaborate effectively with a diverse group of multi-disciplinary experts to deliver exceptional service.
