In a recent staff survey 100% of staff said they would be happywith the standard of care provided if a friend or relative needed treatment and98% find the work they do has meaning and purpose.Hours: hours per week over 7 days Main duties of the job As ourinpatient unit team leader, you will act as a role model and line manager forour nurses, healthcare assistants and volunteers to provide exemplary patientcare.You willwork with the clinical lead and have the peer support of senior clinicalleaders across the hospice including our consultant and medical director,clinical nurse specialists and an advanced nurse practitioner and work withthese leaders to contribute to shaping pathways of care.
You will fulfila true nursing leadership role ensuring an effective quality nursing service,whilst striving for continuous improvement.Thehospice has a strong local reputation and is committed to ensuring that thepeople we provide comfort and care for continue to receive an exceptional levelof support towards the end of their lives.
We also strive to influence andenhance best practice in End of Life Care with other service providers.

About us Prospect Hospice is an independent hospice supporting a community of300,000 people in Swindon, Marlborough and North Wiltshire, and the villages ofLechlade and Fairford in Gloucestershire.It is the only dedicated provider ofspecialist end of life care services within it's locality.
The Hospicesmulti-professionals teams support people in the community, in care homes, atthe Great Western Hospital and at the Hospice in Wroughton.
Care is alsoextended to the families and friends of patients.
Job description Job responsibilities We are looking for an experienced leader with an interest and passion for palliative care, although this may have been gained in a different setting such as a care home.
Previous palliative care experience is preferred but a track record in leading and managing teams will be key to success in this role.About you: NMC Registered General Nurse Experience of managing and developing people or large teams Experience in implementing improvements to patient care Experience of multi-disciplinary or professional team working It would also be great if you have: Teaching or mentoring qualification Specialist palliative care experience Management or leadership qualification or certificate, or willingness to undertake Experience of working with patients and carers with mental health and learning disability needs Degree in a health care related field, or working towards this The prime purpose is to lead and oversee 24-hour care ensuring systems and processes are in place for patients to receive high standards of care day and night.
Your strong visible leadership will empower staff to make their own decisions and know how to access support from the clinical leaders in your absence.The IPU Team Leader is responsible for assessing and managing risks, and in meeting good governance on the unit safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led.
The IPU Team Leader will create a culture where staff are supported and empowered to contribute to safe and effective, person-centred care.A key element will be developing shared goals for the unit, ensuring all staff understand these and support the delivery of care through a model of strong team working, staff working well together, building commitment and self-confidence and strengthening the teams collective skills and approach.Another crucial aspect will be to build strong relationships with the other Prospect clinical teams to ensure effective pathways of care for patients and families.Responsibilities will include but will not be restricted to:Leadership Developing the team thorough a robust 1:1 system and creating a culture of motivating and empowering the team and supporting staff career development.
Provide nursing leadership through expert practice and positive role modelling.
Safe staffing oversight for the staffing rota and maintain appropriate staffing levels and skill mix and lead in.
Delegate appropriately, ensuring the development of skills, knowledge and expertise of all staff on the IPU.
Lead the team of volunteers on the unit ensuring they are supported and valued in their roles and provide support to the unit to maximum effectiveness.
Apply critical thinking to care giving and improvement needs.
To ensure that effective communication is maintained within the nursing team - formal and informal.
