Job summary Join our new service in partnership with University Hospitals Plymouth as a Healthcare Assistant, this is an exciting time to join Marie Curie and contribute to enhancing end-of-life care Main duties of the job As a Healthcare Assistant, working at Mount Gould Hospital, you will work within a multidisciplinary team to monitor and support the overall condition of our patients facing End-of-Life.
This will include monitoring vitals, aiding with nutrition and mobility, administering medication and more.

We are the largest non-NHS provider of end-of-life care in the UK, the only provider across all 4 nations, delivering community nursing and hospice care across the country, while providing information and support on all aspects of dying, death, and bereavement.
Our leading research pushes the boundaries of what we know about good end-of-life, and our campaigns fight for a world where everyone gets to have the best possible quality of life while living with an illness they're likely to die from.We believe that everyone affected by dying, death and bereavement deserves the best possible experience reflecting what is most important to them.Marie Curie, in partnership with University Hospitals Plymouth, is introducing a new service model aimed at enhancing end-of-life care, with a special focus on identifying patients who are approaching the end of their lives.This innovative service focuses on four key areas: Delivering hands-on care and emotional support to patients and their families in the Emergency Department.
Proactively identifying and assisting those nearing the end of life, ensuring timely transfers to their preferred place of care.
Offering specialised care within a community hospital setting.
Engaging a dedicated team of volunteers to provide companionship and practical support.
Joining Marie Curie as a Healthcare Assistant has never been as exciting!We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Healthcare Assistant to join our team.
You will be a member of the Multidisciplinary team providing high standards of evidence-based person-centred care for patients at UHP, including assessing and understanding the personal care and support needs of patients and those important to them, planning and providing person-centred care based on the individual need.This role will require you to be kind, caring and empathetic as you will work with the person and those closest to them to ensure the voice, needs and views of the person being cared for are heard in a meaningful way, recognising and protecting vulnerable adults and children.As a Healthcare Assistant, your duties will include monitoring and assisting in maintain patients skin integrity and personal hygiene, conducting nutrition assessments, attending to comfort needs to assist with rest/sleep, provide support with mobility, monitor vitals and overall promote and maintain a clean and tidy care environment.If you have a passion for helping others and experience in a healthcare setting, we would love to hear from you.What were looking for: Someone who understands the importance of prioritising a patients care, comfort and privacy A clear, appropriate and sensitive communicator who can make informed decisions in a timely manner, confident in having difficult conversations A passion, knowledge and understanding of how to deliver person centred care The ability to remain calm in stressful situations Recent experience in caring for and supporting patients at the end of life.
Experience working within a Multidisciplinary team, assisting in curating individual assessments and advanced care plans.

Desirable Recent professional experience of providing care and caring for dying patients.
Qualifications Essential National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level 2 in Health and Social Care OR an equivalent alternative Level 2 Qualification Functional skills at level 2 in numeracy and literacy or equivalent Desirable National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level 3 in Health and Social Care OR an acceptable alternative Level 3 Qualification Basic Food Hygiene Certificate
