Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting for a Pastoral Lead / Head of Year for our partnered secondary school in Birmingham.
As pastoral lead / Head of Year you will be supporting students who require additional support for their overall development including academically, socially, and emotionally, as well as to develop and maintain a positive ethos within the year group that encourages students to have high expectations of themselves and others and promotes effective learning; this includes behaviour and attendance.
REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS ROLE Relevant experience working in KS3 and KS4.
Enhanced DBS certification or willingness to obtain one.
Willing to work with students with challenging behaviour.
Class control and behaviour management skills.
Excellent communication skills.
Degree is desirable.
Experience working in a pastoral position required.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES Have vast knowledge and understanding of the school curriculum.
Assess and monitor students' progress across the academic year.
Encourage and motivate the learning of the pupils.
Be able to understand students emotionally, socially and academically.
Be able to communicate well with parents and careers when discussing sensitive topics.
