We have an exciting opportunity to join the Asset Directorate as the Head of Strategic Planning reporting directly into our Chief Asset Officer.
This is a new function providing leadership for the company's strategic planning and innovation initiatives, driving transformation across long, medium, and near-term goals.
A visionary leader is needed to develop and implement strategies aligned with the Directorate's mission, fostering innovation and driving emerging trends.
You will lead a multidisciplinary team, to deliver key initiatives, driving a culture of excellence, innovation, and ensuring continuous improvement in complex and uncertain economic conditions.
Specific tasks will be defined based on changing business needs.
The role will set asset management objectives, balancing service, asset, and business needs to optimise service plans, system planning, and portfolio management while maximising risk reduction and benefits.
Key Responsibilities Develop and deliver the company's strategic business plan and ensure alignment with long, medium, and near-term business objectives Lead the development of the asset strategy, collaborating with executive leadership to set priorities and ensure strategic alignment across the business unit Build and lead a high-performing, multidisciplinary team to support effective strategic planning and innovation Foster a culture of innovation by driving new ideas, products, services, and processes across the organisation Manage the innovation portfolio, balancing short-term wins with long-term investments Act as a catalyst for change, driving successful implementation of strategic initiatives and building buy-in at all levels Lead cross-functional teams to execute high-impact strategic projects, ensuring full integration into operational plans Establish KPIs and metrics to track the success of strategic initiatives and regularly report progress to the executive team Assess strategic risks and opportunities, ensuring appropriate mitigation strategies are in place to address disruptions Champion equity, diversity, and inclusion, aligning with Company values in the workplace Ensure compliance with legislative, health, safety, and quality standards, including ISO certifications and GDPR regulations Skills, Competencies & Qualifications Educated to degree level or equivalent in a leadership, management or business-related subject or equivalent experience Chartered membership of a relevant professional institution or equivalent experience Significant experience at a senior level in a regulated utility or engineering related business Strategic leadership across multiple teams and disciplines, demonstrating extraordinary leadership behaviours A detailed understanding of external factors influencing the industry including political, economic, social, and technological issues Development of solutions that go beyond existing precedents, assumptions or current knowledge of complicated disciplines/business challenges Commercial approach to meeting future business investment needs Experience of presenting complex and technical information to all levels of an organisation to obtain essential stakeholder buy-in Experience of proactively managing and mitigating risk Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities to navigate complex challenges Proven experience in financial forecasting, budget formulation, cost control, and reporting Awareness of asset investment planning methodologies and tools We recognise people want to work in a variety of different ways, this means we are happy to consider flexible working arrangements.

A competitive salary of £75,000 - £95,000 is on offer + a wide range of benefits.
