Head of Research About Our Client The Publishers Association is the member organisation for UK publishing, representing companies of all sizes and specialisms. Their members produce digital and print books, research journals, and educational resources across genres and subjects.
Job Description The Publishers Association is looking to recruit an exceptional individual as Head of Research. The Head of Research role is responsible for leading, designing, and delivering the ambitious research and statistics programme at the Publishers Association.
Key Responsibilities Manage the Association's thought-leadership research projects internally and with external consultancies, political think tanks, and other providers.Run the day-to-day relationship with external statistics providers specialising in the publishing market, including the annual publication of the Publishers Association industry statistics.Curate industry data for the Association on issues of topical interest, such as piracy, international trade, or literacy rates, and oversee quickfire surveys to support communications and public affairs activity.Survey the membership and collate statistical feedback on key issues of importance to publishers.Respond to publisher queries for data and/or statistics on particular issues.Present to the Publishers Association Council on issues relating to research and statistics.Liaise, on behalf of the Publishers Association, with key officials at international bodies, government, and devolved bodies (e.g., DCMS, HM Treasury, and the Intellectual Property Office) on research and data.The Successful Applicant Excellent research and numerical skills, including a background in delivering both quantitative and qualitative research.A proven ability to work with statistics, either in previous roles or through educational qualifications.Demonstrable understanding of the role of research and statistics in underpinning policy & public affairs asks.Excellent written skills and ability to write briefings on key topics.Strong project management and organisational skills, with the ability to work to tight deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.Good team player with the ability to work collaboratively.Good IT skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 package.What's on Offer £70,000 PA plus excellent benefits.
