We are seeking a well-qualified and enthusiastic Head of German to join our Languages Faculty on a full-time basis.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach German at GCSE and A level.
In addition, it would be preferable if they could teach one of French, Spanish or Italian to GCSE level or higher.
Furthermore, you would lead the development of German teaching across all ages.
You would be joining a strong, successful and supportive department.
Examination results in the Languages Faculty are excellent at all levels.
Small teaching groups throughout the School are supported by the very latest technology and modern facilities including an extensive use of 1:1 digital learning.

The German department currently has two full-time teachers who also teach another language.
In addition, there is a language assistant who supports students across the school with their oral proficiency.
The department has recently run trips to Cologne and Munich with a visit to Berlin planned for this academic year.
Furthermore, there are regular opportunities for students to broaden their subject knowledge through an extensive co-curricular programme that provides cultural experiences, additional support for students, day visits and theatre performances.
Pupils study for the Edexcel IGCSE and AQA A-level specifications.
A willingness to contribute to the School's wide range of co-curricular activities is expected.

King Edward's is a school with a long and distinguished history and it has been at the heart of Southampton for over 460 years.
The School has occupied 4 different sites, relocating to the purpose-built site on Hill Lane in 1938.
It became fully independent in 1979 and co-educational in 1994.
