Job summary Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board has a unique opportunity for a highly motivated finance professional who will operate at a Management level.
The Health Board employs around 20,000 staff and has an allocation of around £2 billion.
We are responsible for the operation of three district general hospitals (Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor, Ysbyty Glan Clwyd in Bodelwyddan and Wrexham Maelor Hospital) as well as 16 community hospitals.
In primary care settings the Health Board delivers NHS care through a combination of independent contractors and directly delivered services across North Wales.
This network of primary care services covers 96 medical practices ("GP practices"), 83 dental and orthodontic practices, 69 optometry/optician practices and 147 community pharmacies.The Financial Accountant has a central role within finance department, providing financial advice and support within the financial environment.
They will be required to interpret guidance in the relevant areas and support the Head of Capital, Compliance and Business Improvement, particularly accountancy related queries, including IFRS16 and complete the necessary reports for Welsh Government to the standard required.
The successful post holder has operational responsibility to support the Financial Control environment and monitoring agenda and to lead on the understanding and reporting related to tax issues.
Main duties of the job The successful post holder will have a close working relationship with other members of the financial control team.
The post holder will also have a key role in the monitoring and supporting the compliance of financial controls, particularly through liaison with NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership, and Internal Audit colleagues as required.In addition to nurturing internal relationships, this role requires a good communicator who will develop and maintaining strong and effective relationships within finance and with senior managers in other Directorates.The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential Student account member of CCAB institue or ability to demonstrate qualification by relevant and significant experience.
Desirable Qualified member of CCAB institute ECDL qualified or demonstrate relevant IT skills Experience Essential Senior finance experience in large organisation.
Experience in finance function, particularly in the areas of Management Accounting, Sustainability and Reporting.
In depth knowledge of financial and accounting procedures and financial aspects of NHS legislation and policy Experience of dealing with complicated situations and the delivery of challenging corporate objectives.
Experience of working within a complex and policitically sensitive organisation.
Desirable Experience of working in the NHS at a senior level.
Experience of working in the NHS Primary Care Sector Skills Essential Ability to analyse and communicate highly complex information at all levels within the organisation and also to external bodies.
Excellent and highly developed analytical, interpretational and comparative skills capable of dealing with highly complex and sensitive information.
Ability to communicate effectively in writing, through numeric and statistical presentation, and verbally Demonstrate ability to work on multiple complex tasks simultaneously and produce high quality work within tight deadlines and within resource constraints Desirable Ability to communicate effectively in Welsh and English Demonstrable project management skills including work planning, organisation and prioritisation.
