The role… Verdantix is seeking a Finance Director to take charge of financial planning, analysis, and management across our global organisation.
This finance function leadership role has the unique benefit of supporting the growth of a sustainability-focused research, data and advisory firm.
Reporting to the CEO and accountable to the Board, this is a leadership role with a seat on the Executive Committee.
As the first full-time finance director at the firm, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to make a significant impact and implement best practices across financial operations, processes, tax, treasury, reporting and digital systems.
The ideal candidate will have an existing understanding of how to optimize financial decisions in a firm with turnover between £20 million and £50 million.
Key capabilities include leadership, problem solving, applying digital best practices, sales and profit growth opportunity identification as well as stakeholder engagement.
We are seeking candidates in the region of £100K - £120K base (dependant on experience) plus a competitive quarterly bonus.
What you'll be doing… Financial Strategy & Planning: Develop and execute financial strategies aligned with the company's overall business goals.
Lead the budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring accuracy and alignment with business objectives.
Provide financial analysis, insights, and recommendations to support key business decisions.
Financial Reporting & Analysis: Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including profit & loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
Monitor key financial metrics, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities for cost optimisation and revenue growth.
Lead annual sustainability reporting Cash Flow & Capital Management: Ensure effective cash flow management and liquidity planning.
Manage the company's capital structure, optimising working capital and ensuring sustainable financing strategies.
Lead relationships with banks, investors, and other financial stakeholders.
US Finances & Compliance: Oversee all aspects of U.S. financial operations, including adherence to federal, state, and local tax laws, accounting standards, and financial regulations.
Working in collaboration with external accountants and Professional Employer Organisation (PEO), ensure compliance with U.S. payroll, income, and corporate tax requirements, including overseeing the accurate filing and reporting.
Keep updated on changing financial regulations and tax policies to ensure proactive compliance and risk mitigation.
Financial Systems: Conduct a comprehensive review of existing financial systems and processes to assess efficiency and scalability.
Oversee the implementation of improvements of financial software, ensuring they meet current and future business needs.
Ensure integration of financial systems across the business to provide real-time, accurate data for decision-making and reporting.
Team Leadership & Development: Lead and develop team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement Provide mentorship and guidance on financial best practices to non-financial managers across the organisation.
What we're looking for..
Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA).
Proven experience in a senior finance role, ideally within a mid-sized professional service, market research or software environment (turnover £20M-£50M).
Strong background in financial planning, analysis, and reporting.
Experience with U.S. financial regulations and tax compliance Advanced proficiency in financial software, and technology-led financial solutions.
Demonstrated experience in leadership and team development.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
Collaborative and able to build strong relationships across teams.
High level of integrity, professionalism, and ethical conduct.
