About the role The Finance Assistant provides essential support in maintaining accurate financial records, facilitating smooth financial transactions, and ensuring compliance with financial policies and procedures.
This role is crucial in ensuring the efficiency and accuracy of the organisation's financial operations.
As part of the finance team, the Finance Assistant will support various key financial functions, ensuring efficient operations across accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
The following are the core responsibilities, but not limited to: Accounts Payable * Process invoices, expense reports, and other payables promptly and within agreed deadlines.
* Verify the accuracy of invoices, ensure proper coding, and obtain necessary approvals.
* Liaise with vendors and internal teams to resolve discrepancies.
Accounts Receivable * Assist in generating and sending customer invoices.
* Monitor accounts receivable ageing and follow up on outstanding invoices.
* Record customer payments and reconcile the accounts receivable ledger.
Reconciliations * Reconcile bank statements, credit card statements, and other financial accounts.
* Investigate and resolve discrepancies identified during the reconciliation process.
Financial Reporting * Assist in preparing financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
* Compile financial data to support the finance team in analysing and interpreting financial performance.
Data Entry and Maintenance * Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records in the accounting system.
* Enter financial transactions into the accounting software with attention to detail and accuracy.
Support * Provide administrative support to the finance team as needed.
* Assist with special projects and initiatives, including audits and process improvements.
Background & Experience * Proven experience (1-3 years) in a finance-related role.
* Exposure to accounts payable, accounts receivable, and reconciliations is preferred.
Skills & Qualifications * Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
* Proficiency in ERP systems or accounting software.
* A bachelor's degree or an apprenticeship in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred but not essential.
Competencies & Behaviours * Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry, financial calculations, and reviewing financial information.
* Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines, and work effectively under pressure.
* Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within the finance team and across other departments.
* Understanding of financial principles and practices.
* Ability to maintain confidentiality, with a strong commitment to ethics and integrity.
* Adaptability and willingness to learn new tasks, technologies, and financial regulations.
* Drive to gain more knowledge on Excel functions such as IF statements, VLOOKUP, pivot tables etc.
* Ambition to grow and develop within the finance field, with opportunities for career progression and professional development.
