Job DescriptionEnvironmental Manager Location: Birmingham / Site with Hybrid Working Salary: £55,000 - £65,000 plus car allowance and package Summary A leading tier 1 contractor in the civil engineering and infrastructure sectors is seeking an Environmental Manager to oversee a number of projects in the northern region.
Based out of their offices in the Midlands, the Environmental Manager will be responsible for taking the lead in creating a culture of best practice environmental performance and excellent standards across multiple projects.
The projects are typically city centre regeneration schemes or junction improvements with values of £2m-£10m across our Midlands region.
Duties - Initiate and maintain systems to review and monitor compliance with BS EN ISO 14001 and other company/divisional standards.
- Manage and oversee monitoring equipment, collect, process and interpret data (e.g.
water, dust, noise, waste) - Manage onsite Environmental Site inspections, highlighting any bad and good practice to the relevant teams and Senior Management - Ensure that the Project Environmental Management System is implemented and operated on site through a programme of checking and auditing.
- Record and report all incidents to all relevant parties and instigate any corrective actions required.
- Prepare monthly environmental reports for the project, including completion of company/client and divisional reporting systems data systems - Regularly report progress (including achievements) against environmental compliance, and environmental targets to the whole team - Develop robust and comprehensive mitigation measures to deal with environmental risks, working collaboratively with the production team - Produce, review and update the Project Environmental Management Plan - EMP (and associated plans) on a regular basis - Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and client representatives to ensure - collaborative working relationships Person Specification - Significant experience with either a consulting engineer, civil engineering contractor or a specialist environmental contractor.
- Hold Bachelor's degree/MSc (or equivalent) in a relevant environmental discipline - Broad knowledge of all aspects of environmental design and works and impacts on 3rd Parties.
- Knowledge of relevant UK Environment legislation and current best practice guidance; - Member of IEMA Ideally chartered or working towards chartered status
