About the role This is an opportunity for someone with a science based degree qualification to assist Rochdale Borough Council in fulfilling its statutory responsibilities in relation to contaminated land and provide scientific advice and technical guidance in relation to land environments in response to requests from the public, external organisations, and other local authority employees.
There will also be opportunities to work across several regulatory areas of environmental protection including noise, acoustics and pollution prevention and control, ensuring appropriate environmental protection safeguards are applied, so that pollution does not adversely affect people's health or the environment within the Rochdale Borough.
The post holder will have the opportunity to learn and develop in these areas.
In accordance with Section 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 this post requires the ability to converse at ease with the members of the public and provide advice in accurate spoken English.
About you We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated person to join our Environmental Protection and Health Protection team.
The successful candidate will specialise in contaminated land, but will have the opportunity to get involved, and develop in other environmental protection work.
You will have the ability to understand and analyse technical reports and enquiries, have a passion and pride in your work, and have excellent written and communication skills.
We are open to applications from new graduates as well as experienced officers.
