Job Description 3 months contract with a local authority Job Summary: · To work within a Technical Approval and Supervision Team which approves and inspects highway improvements for the Sizewell C development and other Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects.
Key Duties/Accountabilities: · The Engineers work working within a small managed by either a Senior Engineer or Principal Engineer.
· You will provide an effective technical approval service for Sizewell C and other Nationally Strategic Infrastructure Projects delivering Agreements (under Section 38 and 278 of the Highway Act) to ensure that the roads that they build can be adopted as Highway in due course while needing to protect the Council's interest reducing the maintenance risk and liability for the Highway Authority in the future.
The opportunity is available for you to widen your experience by also assisting in the planning approval process for NSIPs Essential Qualifications Required: · NVQ Level 6 (graduate), or Level 5 (foundation degree) or considerable highway design experience · Working towards a professional qualification (desirable) · Membership of appropriate professional organisation (desirable) Additional information to note: · Working compressed hours (eg a nine-day fortnight) · Term time working · Use of flexitime / time off in lieu · Working from home · Working from different Council buildings · All flexible working preferences will be considered alongside the individual demands and nature of the role.
