Description Job Description & Person Specification > We are recruiting an Energy Officer to help us deliver our goal to be carbon neutral.
This role will see you working as part of our Climate, Transport and Planning Team.
You'll be working with our Strategy and Project Management Team as well as colleagues throughout our organisation.
You will be actively sourcing funds and identifying the right proposals to reduce our energy and water consumption, as well as carbon emissions across our estate.
This is an exciting opportunity, helping us to respond to the climate challenges and also to improve the performance of our assets.
We are looking for an individual, ideally with some previous experience in managing energy and low carbon estate projects, who is looking for a new challenge.
You will be taking responsibility for shaping how we develop a more effective approach to the management of energy and decarbonising our estate, whilst enjoying a good work-life balance in a naturally inspiring part of the UK.

Skills Essential: Ability to interrogate utility data and carbon emissions from a complex buildings portfolio, and set and achieve reduction targets, as well as ensuring the data is an accurate reflection.
Ability to carry out and/or lead investment grade energy/renewable energy/heat decarbonisation plans/similar on buildings.
Ability to develop business cases and initiate, procure, manage and deliver complex utility/carbon reduction projects, including the recruitment and management of external consultants.
Ability to lead multiple, sometimes complex, projects and programme management simultaneously .
This role requires the ability to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence and fluency in English.
Knowledge Essential: In-depth specialist knowledge of low and zero carbon measures and microgeneration technologies.
In-depth specialist knowledge and ability to demonstrate how to audit the energy performance of a building and carry out high-level feasibility for a range of decarbonisation measures such as energy efficiency or renewable energy projects.
Able to demonstrate knowledge of how to deliver energy, water and carbon emissions reductions projects, including renewable and low carbon heat and power projects, in a large local authority/similar.
Able to demonstrate knowledge to identify the opportunities to achieve energy savings and/or carbon reduction in a quick way.
Able to demonstrate knowledge of how to collate, monitor, analyse and report utility consumption, spend and carbon data.
Experience & Qualifications Essential: Development and delivery of energy savings and carbon emissions reductions projects in a local authority or similar organisation.
Educated to degree level in energy management, engineering building services or equivalent.
Membership of a relevant professional body (or evidence of working towards or eligibility of).
