Together we can bring energy to life using your expertise and the latest technology.Job IntroductionWe are currently recruiting for a Grade 4 Network Planner to join us at our Birmingham depot on a temporary basis for a 9 month period, subject to review.Planners design our network and work with our Engineers to construct, reinforce, alter and replace our equipment.
As you can imagine, the pace is fast, and if you join us, our customers will trust you to provide excellent service and minimise any impact.To apply you'll need English and Maths GCSE at Grade C/Level 4 minimum OR Functional Skills Level 2 or above.
We'll need to see evidence of your qualifications.As part of our hybrid working approach this role offers a mix of office and home working.
Hybrid working can only be considered once your initial training is complete and subject to business need.
*Please note you may initially be appointed at a lower salary until all relevant courses and training are complete.Main responsibilitiesYou'll be hands-on and customer focused, managing multiple projects at the same time, including the design, costing and quoting of existing and new electricity network assets, you will also:Plan, prepare and deliver new services/alterations/small capital projectsCarry out onsite meetingsWork with wayleaves/estates specialist to obtain 3rd party agreements for NGED assetsFinancially review and close projectsCommunicate with customers effectively to manage expectations and resolve queriesSchedule contracted worksCommunicate with local authorities and external stakeholdersIdeal candidateWe need you to understand our customers and their needs; strong communication skills are key, so you can solve their problem and explain issues simply and clearly.
As you'll be in control of your diary, we'll need you to be resilient, organised and able to prioritise your workload.
Team players thrive in this role, and experience using iPads and computers is a must.
You will need to be mobile throughout the area as you may be required to undertake standby duties.You may not possess all the skills required to carry out the role at present but you will have the confidence and ability to reach the necessary standards with appropriate training.
If not already attained you will be required to undertake a Level 2 City & Guilds 2339 qualification and complete TAR, which includes daily diary completion and a number of tasks and reports as required.A valid driving licence is required for this role.National Grid Electricity Distribution is committed to safeguarding the interests of the Company, colleagues and customers.This role is subject to a satisfactory Barring Service (DBS) check, depending on the role different levels of screening and vetting are required.
Some roles require a triannual check.Please note - interviews will take place on Tuesday 26 November.
