Main duties of the jobWe are pleased to offer an opportunity for an enthusiastic and experienced highly specialist practitioner psychologist to join our Diabetes Psychiatry and Psychology Service (DPPS) as part of the adult diabetes team at King's College Hospital. The successful candidate will provide specialist psychological screening, assessment, and treatment to patients with type 1 / complex type 2 diabetes and associated psychological difficulties. This role will also involve consultation and teaching within the multi-disciplinary team (MDT).

There are opportunities for both individual and group-based interventions which are used in the team to help address issues around adjustment to the condition, effective diabetes management, and psychological and emotional wellbeing. The team also has support from a consultant psychiatrist, with whom you will work closely to help manage and support the various levels of mental health needs within the diabetes patient cohort.
Person specificationQualifications, Knowledge and ExperienceEntry-level qualification in Applied Psychology (professional Doctorate, or combination of MSc plus PG Diploma level additional)Additional training in a specialised area of psychological practice through formal post-qualification training (PG Diploma or equivalent)Registered with the HCPC as Practitioner Psychologist, and evidence of continuing professional development as required by the HCPC.Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients with a range of complex psychological and physical health needs.Experience in the psychological management of diabetes.IMPORTANT Check your email account regularly as this is how we will communicate with you.Please provide email addresses for referees where possible.All staff have a responsibility for safeguarding children and vulnerable adults.
