Job summary Decontamination Team Leader (HSDU) Department: HSDU Band 3 £24,071 - £25,674 per annum Hours: hours per week - Early shift 8am - 4pm - Late shift 11am - 7pm (This also include 1 Saturday in 4 and full participation in the weekend on call rota).

The role encompasses direct supervision of technicians combined with full participation in the operational aspects of the department.
The Decontamination Unit provides a comprehensive decontamination service to theatres, wards and departments within the hospital complex.
The unit processes reusable surgical equipment and medical devices.
As a clinical support service, the department operates from 8am - 7pm (Monday - Friday) and 8am - 4pm Saturday.
An on-call system is in operation from 4pm Saturday until 8am Monday.
This on call system forms part of the team leader role.
The on call covers trauma & emergency service for theatres and departments out of hours.

Interview date: 19th November 2024 Main duties of the job The ideal candidate will have significant / relevant recent HSDU experience and be familiar with the operational aspects of a Quality Management System.The successful candidate should hold the e-learning qualification in decontamination, and you would be required to complete the introduction certificate in team leading.To supervise and participate in daily activities ensuring the effective decontamination and sterilisation of reusable medical devicesSupervise staff in all areas of production and distribution to ensure standards are maintained and work quotas met.
Working within a controlled environment to ensure that QMS is effectively operated and monitored in accordance with the Quality Manual and associated Policies and Procedures.

Person Specification Qualifications and knowledge Essential Knowledge of current guidance and legislative requirements for decontamination 5 GCSE's Basic IT Skills Certificate in Decontamination Practices (e-learning Decontamination) or equivalent experience Desirable Knowledge of Decontamination Principles Understanding of the ISO 13485 accreditation Experience Essential Previous experience in SSD environment Previous experience in handling delicate equipment Working to set timeframes Experience of working within Decontamination guidelines Desirable Previous team leader experience Skills Essential Leadership with a strong focus on timely delivery of service Ability to develop staff and motivate team working Identify staff training needs Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team Ability to meet tight deadlines and competing priorities Maintain a flexible approach Interpret SOP's Able to interpret IMS results and train others to do so Be able to problem solve Desirable Participate in writing/reviewing SOP's Demonstrate negotiation skills Personal and people development Essential Ability to instruct and mentor staff Carry out staff PDP's Communication Essential Strong interpersonal skills Strong influencing skills Ability to instruct and inform in a clear concise manner To communicate effectively even when under pressure Specific requirements Essential Able to perform the duties of the post with reasonable aids and adaptations
