What we are looking for: We are looking for a Customs Administrator to join our growing Purchasing team.
As a Customs Administrator you will be working within the Purchasing Team with close links to the Buyers to ensure we optimize all customs procedures available to HSF; that we are processing/handling any and all purchased goods in line with legislation & HMRC rules; and that our AEO-C status along with all procedures used remain compliant.
Key responsibilities as a Customs Administrator will be: - To ascertain & assign H/S and commodity codes to all items imported including Seafood, Engineering Parts, other - To support the maintenance & completion of all registers held e.g.
Purchase Order, Customs Declarations, End Use - To ensure all items cleared through UK customs are done so in compliance with legislation optimising any and all procedures that will minimise HSF's duty exposure e.g.
End Use, OPR, IPR - To notify any and all clearing agents of our clearance instructions & to monitor compliance thereof - To reconcile any duty payments made whether via HSF's duty deferment account or other means, making reclaims &/or corrected submissions where required, sharing all updates with Finance for internal accounting reconciliation - To cross check & challenge, where applicable, the use of assigned H/S and/or commodity codes for any items exported (though the holder of this role will not be responsible in this regard) - To support in the completion of TSS data for any goods exported when the Export Administrator is not available - To hold a central database for catch certificates and to share these internally when requested to do so - To complete monthly cross checks on MSS data received - To monitor ETD & ETA of shipments due & update the p/o register accordingly - To lead any and all audits/health checks carried out by HMRC or third parties assigned accordingly - To central stored MRN information received for all loads & update the Customs Declarations register - To take a leading role in the negotiation of freight rates, clearance charges etc for any goods purchased under non DDP incoterms of trade Required experience/expertise to succeed as a Customs Administrator will include: - Previous experience in the importation of goods, preferably Seafood - Knowledge of the HMRC Tariff Classification & Harmonised Codes system - Insight into HMRC special procedures where import duty can be optimised - Patience & ability to absorb data and information during periods of training & mentoring - Highly organised in both diary management and information collation, able to prioritise workload - Strong communicator recognising both internal & external 'customer' needs - IT literate, with ability to perform basic functions using Word, Excel, PowerPoint & TEAMS - Receptive to IT advances & the use thereof in order to optimise productivity and both internal & external communication and information sharing What you get in return: - Great package with competitive holiday allowance - Life assurance of minimum two times yearly salary - Opportunities for development and internal promotion - Share Save scheme - Free car parking on site - Enhanced Maternity/Paternity Hilton Food Group - Home (hiltonfoodgroupplc.com)
