In this role you will be a key clinical leader in the Intellectual and Developmental Disability Mental Health team, delivering specialist psychiatric support across inpatient and community settings.
This role involves working collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team, making a meaningful impact on the lives of patients with neurodivergent disorders and intellectual disabilities.
You'll contribute to innovative models of care, mentor junior staff, and engage with both local and community healthcare providers.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to# Job scope cuts across clinical work, quality and clinical governance, meeting operational targets and managing budgets, education and training, research, professional development.
Specifically, for example: Provide specialist psychiatric assessment and care for patients with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to develop positive behaviour support plans and manage acute medical interventions.
Lead, develop and implement MDT training.
Provide a consultation liaison service with hospital wards.
Provide liaison with mainstream services such as adult psychiatry and CAMHS, develop local pathways and promote your department.
Actively participate in quality improvement initiatives and support a culture of safety and high performance.
Mentor and supervise junior medical staff, ensuring high standards of clinical practice.
Support departmental research activities.
Selection criteria includes but is not limited to Fellowship with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP), or equivalent.
Whilst not essential, qualifications in intellectual disability will be highly regarded.
Experience in adult general psychiatry and/or intellectual and developmental disability (desirable).
Strong clinical and teaching experience.
A collaborative approach to your work.
Willingness to participate in the on-call and after-hours roster.
