Job summary We are looking for a consultant for a permanent part time position working 5 PA's/sessions within the Department of Restorative Dentistry in Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
This post will be part of the team for Restorative Head and Neck Cancer treatment, which has been developed to expand and enhance secondary hospital-based Oncology Restorative Rehabilitation Dentistry Services in Preston.
The successful applicant must hold full registration with the General Dental Council and be on the Specialist list for Restorative Dentistry.
Possession of FDS or MFDS (or equivalent) plus FDS (Restorative Dentistry) or equivalent is essential or be within 6-months of completion of post-CCST training and attaining the necessary qualifications at the time of the interview.
Applicants should have established skills in Restorative Dentistry.
A commitment to, and experience of Undergraduate and Postgraduate teaching, and a research interest.
Main duties of the job You will be expected to show drive and initiative towards patient care, putting the patient first in line with the Trust's core values.
You will be expected to have a high level of knowledge and expertise in the field of Restorative Dentistry and its mono specialties and be able to demonstrate a high-quality approach to patient management.
You will be required to provide all aspects of Prosthodontic treatment (fixed, removable and implant supported), for multidisciplinary cases.
Proficiency in diagnosis and treatment planning in endodontics and dento-alveolar trauma is also required.
The position requires attendance at the HNC MDT meetings and restorative assessment/rehabilitation of these patients.
Participation in issues such as clinical effectiveness relating to patient management is essential, as well as sharing in the administrative tasks in the Department and Division.
You will be expected to work closely with the highly skilled, well-established teams based at both sites (RPH and CDH) in terms of both within the division, inter-departmentally and part of wider multi-disciplinary teams and networks.

Job description Job responsibilities Please refer to the attached Job description, Person specification and Specialty/ Trust Brochure for further details on: What we can offer Job Plan/On-call Requirements The Team Person Specification Qualifications Essential Full Registration with the UK GDC GDC's Specialist Register for Restorative Dentistry and/or completion of SAC approved training programme in Restorative Dentistry Within 6 months completion of Specialist training programme at date of interview BDS or equivalent Fellowship in Dental Surgery, Membership of Faculty of Dental Surgery or equivalent Desirable Higher Degree Intercollegiate Speciality Fellowship Exit Examination in Restorative Dentistry or equivalent Experience & Skills Essential Ability to offer expert clinical opinion on a range of problems in Restorative Dentistry Proficient and competent in undertaking a range of clinical procedures both non-surgical and surgical in the field of Restorative Dentistry High level of experience in undertaking Prosthodontic rehabilitation of Head and Neck Cancer patients Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients Experience in attending MDTs for HNC and pre-Radiotherapy assessments Experience in the treatment of a range of multidisciplinary cases Desirable Trained Educational Supervisor Understand the importance of multidisciplinary interface of patients' treatment needs with other aspects of Dentistry Significant experience of working with a variety of multidisciplinary teams Health Essential Meets professional health requirements in line with GDC Standards / Good Medical Practice Management Essential Evidence of Clinical Leadership Evidence of commitment to audit and improving clinical practice / service development Ability to advise on efficient and smooth running of the service clinics Ability to organise and manage clinics outpatient priorities Ability to manage and lead Restorative Dentistry Ability and willingness to work within the Trust and NHS performance framework and targets Desirable Management, Leadership course / certification Involvement in service development Personal Essential Effective communication skills (with examples) Works well within a multidisciplinary environment Research & Development Essential Evidence of interest in personal development through research and / or publications2 Desirable Research relevant to the specialty of Restorative Dentistry Participation in clinical research Publications in peer-reviewed journals
