Job summary We are looking for a Band 5 Community Staff Nurse to join one of our Community Nursing teams based at New Romney Clinic in New Romney, to support the development of this service.We operate seven days a week from 08:00-18:00, with weekend shifts on a rotational basis.We support patients from GP practices within New Romney and surrounding areas.The teams provide nursing care to predominantly housebound patients where each team takes responsibility for a defined geographical patch, allowing good working relationships with local GPs, care homes, Social Services, voluntary organisations and other stakeholders.The Community Nurses also provide local clinics for patients requiring their clinical skills.
As the Community Staff Nurse, you are able to support a patient with nursing care delivery towards the aim of self-management.
Main duties of the job This is a highly rewarding role, and nurses are supported to achieve all the clinical skills required with local practice educators and extended training.Clinical areas are diverse, and include clinical skills for wound management care, end of life care, medicines administrations and IVs, bladder and bowel care, amongst other duties.
Each team have two senior staff, therefore, these posts are suitable for those who are newly qualified or moving from an acute setting.You will need your own car and are able to claim mileage costs and access the NHS car lease provision, following a probationary period.We are rated as "outstanding" and we provide consistent, high quality care across all of our services.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential Registered Healthcare Professional with relevant Professional body (1st Level Nurse/ NMC) Degree in a health relevant subject or willingness to complete a degree (within 3 years of appointment) Desirable Mentoring qualification Experience Essential Experience of recent community/acute healthcare gained through education or work experience placement or previous employment Knowledge Essential Awareness of professional issues and recent developments in the NHS Knowledge of up to date clinical practice Skills and abilities Essential Sound communication and interpersonal skills (verbal and written) Ability to organise own work Ability to cope with change Ability to use own initiative Personal attributes Essential Ability to motivate and organise others to ensure best practice.
Ability to work under pressure Flexible and adaptable Valid driving licence and access to a car for work purposes.
Ability to manage Essential Able to support the implementation of local and national agenda for health under the guidance of the team lead / ward manager.
Ability to prioritise care delivery in a professional manner, taking into account Trust policies and procedures.
