We have an exciting to join our Commercial PI team as an Underwriter.
Within this role, you will take ownership and accountability for key pieces of business, and key broker relationships, both Regionally and within London Market.
Working alongside an experienced team, the role will be suited to those wanting to have autonomy to develop and underwrite their own book of business as well as playing an integral part of the PI portfolio.
The role will involve working within underwriting parameters and authority levels to drive existing and new broker relationships by delivering high quality account underwriting and servicing of renewal and new business.
Fast Growing MGA, with over 15 years of Financial Lines experience We are experts in our niche sectors and understand the risks Our teams are empowered to make decisions and react faster A flexible approach to underwriting allows us to offer tailored and more sustainable solutions Capacity backing with a strong financial rating Responsibilities: Underwriting, pricing, and negotiating accounts consistent with the quality of the risk and according to the company's strategy, guidelines, and individual underwriting authority Writing a minimum of GWP each business year, as agreed Executing agreed business and action plans with brokers in terms of profitability, retention, and new business ratios Taking accountability and ownership for own underwriting decisions Highlighting and working with underwriters on non-typical opportunities Developing and maintaining close and effective relationships with brokers, insurers, and clients, including travel and entertainment.
Regularly encouraging reciprocal visits from brokers and customers.
Actively participating in these meetings, taking a lead role where appropriate.
Maintaining compliance with appropriate rules, legislation, underwriting agreements, legislation, and other forms of best practice Experience: 3+ years of experience as an underwriter A variety of professions experience, including architects, engineers, D&C, IB, Accountants, Surveyors and Miscellaneous.
Tech, media and niche professions are also of interest Strong broker relationships.
Excellent communication skills A drive to source new business, new opportunities.
Willingness to pick up and run an existing renewal portfolio Strong understanding of PI market/conditions Pragmatic, commercial and excellent technical underwriting skill set Ability to work within a fast paced, team environment.
