A reputable law firm in Stoke-on-Trent is seeking a dedicated COLP (Compliance Officer for Legal Practice) or Compliance Manager to join our team on a part-time basis.
About the Role As the COLP/Compliance Manager, you will play a vital role in ensuring the firm adheres to all regulatory and legal obligations.
You will oversee compliance processes, manage risk, and promote a culture of ethical best practices throughout the firm.
Key Responsibilities Act as the firm's designated COLP, maintaining compliance with the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) guidelines.Develop, implement, and maintain compliance policies and procedures.Conduct audits, risk assessments, and internal training sessions to ensure all team members understand their compliance obligations.Monitor changes in relevant regulations and ensure timely updates to policies.Manage client due diligence and anti-money laundering (AML) compliance processes.Handle regulatory reporting and liaise with external regulatory bodies as required.
About You Proven experience in a compliance role within a legal or regulated environment.Strong knowledge of SRA regulations, AML requirements, and other relevant legislation.Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.Ability to work independently, maintain confidentiality, and meet deadlines.Previous experience as a COLP is highly desirable but not essential.
