We are looking for an enthusiastic Clinical Research Fellow at the NIHR Imperial Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) within .
Reporting to Professor Hanna and working with other investigators, you will join a multidisciplinary team to lead one of the Theme's translational research projects, BEACON: Breath microbial volatiles in personalised nutrition.
You will work directly with the trial team and be responsible for all aspects of the trial under the supervision of Principal Investigator.
You will characterise the volatile organic compounds (VOC) profile for targeted diet-related bacterial species and define microbial signatures associated with specific food and dietary types.
Additionally, you will analyse the VOC profile from the stool microbiome of patients who have undergone oesophageal cancer surgery and develop potential dietary recommendations to manage post-operative symptoms.
You will also lead the development of the NutriBreath nutritional breath device prototype for these purposes.
We are looking for a passionate and committed clinical researcher who wishes to explore a combined clinical and research career and address a global health need to establish a healthier gut microbiome, with the aim of improving gastrointestinal symptoms, quality of life, and overall health to prevent disease.You should have a degree in medicine and prior experience working in gastroenterology and oesophagogastric cancer treatment.
Previous research and experience in oesophagogastric cancer microbiome are desirable, but not essential.
