Overview The Clinical Coding Manager will be accountable for the strategy and development of our client's coding related systems and services.
You will be passionate about coding, be an Accredited Clinical Coder, with leadership qualities, and enthusiasm and drive to motivate our team of coders.
You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the coding staff with a view to the smooth running of the department to meet monthly deadlines.
You should have proven ability to prioritise, plan, organise your workload and work under pressure, if required.
The post holder will be a highly organised and experienced manager with a strong interest in quality management, development, and excellence in service delivery.Salary: £65,000The Role Accountable for the Coding strategyTake monthly 121;s with your team members and create individual and team objectivesWork customer cases where needed and respond within SLAEnsure all customer cases are responded to within SLAStrong management and leadership, ensuring workload is evenly distributed and the team are multiskilledSupport and train colleagues in clinical coding related mattersEducate customer and internal staff on how coding works and the principles of codingEnsure all Coding related processes are updatedEnsure integrity of the coding processAssess the market and keep up to date with external coding affairsPublish coding standards on behalf of the companyLead the ongoing development of the Healthcode ISC classification and liase with customers for new code developmentAnalyse Generic clinical code sets EMR / EHR systemsAnalyse and support Pharmacy codesets – DM+D and BNFMapping clinical terminologies to clinical codes across several classifications including OPCS, CCSD, ICD10, ICD9 and Healthcode ISCs.
And other more standard / global systems, SNOMED.Map clinical codes to genders, anatomical classifications and specialtiesUnderstanding customer's codes are mapped and standardised, handling customer support issues and producing customer analysis and reportsEnsure provider Chargemaster mappings are maintained and developedWork closely with the product owners on implementation of clinical code setsSupport coding development and standards to support business intelligence and reporting programmesPlan and chair customer Coding workshopsSupport the re-write of the claims clearing serviceSupport cross mappings of codesetsBuild and maintain a Coding data dictionary and be responsible for the standards, distribution and publicationKeep up with the maintenance and standardisation of code setsEvaluate available code sets and classifications to determine current and future suitabilityAttend customer and insurer meetings where coding related topics need discussingSupport ongoing development of Healthcode's coding related systems and services.
Identifying opportunities for product enhancements and developmentsAdvise customers and internal teams on the best codes to useContract management between providers and insurers.
The PersonQualifications Educated to degree level or recognised equivalentNational Accredited Clinical Coder Qualification (ACC)ExperienceProven managerial experience of managing a clinical coding teamHigh-level customer service experienceExperience of Implementation, review and undertaking of a structured coding audit programme and the writing of audit reportsExperience with CRM systems.
Salesforce (desirable)Clinical coding knowledge and experienceUnderstanding of operational procedures and QA process standardsAdvanced knowledge of complex medical terminology and anatomy and physiologyProven expertise and specialist knowledge in the application of the rules and conventions of ICD-10 and OPCS-4.
Professional and Personal Skills Strong analytical, administrative and organisation skills and great attention to detail – able to make sense of complex requirements and understand underlying causes of issues and be creating in forming solutions.Excellent listening, questioning and problem-solving skills.Demonstrable initiative and enthusiasm, and the ability to multi-task.
Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.Able to use all required Microsoft tools effectivelyGood team playerDelivery focused with the ability to prioritise business critical solutions.Ability to develop stakeholder relationships both internally (cross departmentally) and externally (strategic development partners)
