Job: GM Resilience Civil Contingencies Officer 12 months Fixed Term Salary: £36,648 to £40,221 Hours : 36.25 hours per week, Monday-Friday, with out of hours if required as part of a 365/24/7 on call rota Contract : 12 months, Fixed Term Location : 3rd Floor, GMP Force HQ, Northampton Road, Manchester M40 5BP - Blended/Hybrid Working Advert closing date: 24 th November.
2024 Your role: An exciting opportunity has arisen to work on urban resilience in Greater Manchester, a city-region that is recognised by the United Nations as a global leader in resilience.
As a Civil Contingencies Officer, the post holder will be a key member of the Greater Manchester Resilience Unit, supporting the emergency planning, response, and resilience service to the ten Councils in Greater Manchester.
Operating as part of the Greater Manchester Resilience Unit, a shared service established by Greater Manchester's Councils to deliver expertise in civil contingencies, t he role holder will have responsibility to support specific resilience workstreams and projects, including ensuring projects are delivered on time and to the required standard.
They will also be responsible for the design and delivery of training programmes for Councils and partners organisations across GM.
This work is delivered in a wider multi-agency environment with civil contingencies activity across Greater Manchester coordinated through the Greater Manchester Resilience Forum, a statutory partnership that brings together over 80 organisations involved in planning for, responding to and recovering from emergencies.
The post holder will join the team at a pivotal and challenging time as Greater Manchester's Councils implement their resilience ambitions set out in the recent Trailblazer Devolution Deal agreed with Government, the Greater Manchester Resilience Strategy, and the UK Government's Resilience Framework.
About you: The post holder will have excellent communication and relationship management skills with the capacity to work with senior managers, operational staff and different stakeholders.
They will have the drive, enthusiasm, and experience to support the shaping and delivery of services to meet the resilience needs of the GM Councils.
The post holder will also enjoy working under pressure, sometimes with conflicting priorities, and working in fast-paced crises.
Experience in civil contingencies whilst an advantage is not essential.
You will Support the effective development and delivery of emergency preparedness and response arrangements in Greater Manchester's Councils.
Work with Business Partners, team members and GM Councils to provide a focused, civil contingencies service that ensures business and civil contingencies agendas are delivered.
Be part of an on-call 365/24/7 rota, providing a prompt response to emergencies within Greater Manchester and providing expert advice to Councils.
Develop and deliver specific programmes of work themed around particular risks, response capabilities and resilience issues.
Participate in multi-agency work to build on and strengthen emergency preparedness, response and recovery arrangements tasked out and coordinated through the Greater Manchester Resilience Forum.
Car/vehicle driver's license - This post is a designated Casual Car User.
Therefore, you must always hold a full valid driving license and provide your own car for use at work.
You will receive Casual Car User Allowance.
