Delegateresponsibilities to the members of the Senior Management Team, Heads of Service and Managers as appropriate.To develop the Hospices employees and volunteers, in pursuance of the operational &strategic objectives agreedby the Board ofTrustees.To promote, lead &effectively manage changewithin the Hospice to sustainit as a learning, caring &responsive organisation.To workwith the Board & its Working Groups in facilitating & maintaining effective, inclusivecommunication & shared common vision, values & objectives betweenthe Board, staff &volunteers.
To ensure thatwe develop&implement good peoplemanagementpractices through the recruitment, induction,development& engagement of ourstaff and volunteers.Achievingour Strategic Goals To workclosely withtheBoard of Trustees to formulate a clear strategicdirection for the Hospicetaking account of any current legislative changes&underpinned by sound planning within the context of the Hospices vision, missionand values.

To lead the Hospice Management Team intranslating the agreedstrategy into meaningfulobjectives for services with associated key performance indicators & to ensure such objectives areimplemented as planned.
To ensure thatplansare known and understood throughout St Luke's,delegated to relevant members of staff &that clear objectives for the achievement of plans are established.Work with partners, to ensurethat the Hospice plays a leading role in the strategicdevelopment ofPalliative & End of Life care both locally and nationally.
Ensurefuture proofing of St Lukes through the identification of local & nationalopportunities toredesign & build on current services that willgenerate greater income.
Ensurethat St Lukes responds to national &local funding opportunitiesthrough the development ofstrategic & capitalbids whenrelevant.
To ensure thatSt Lukeshas the appropriate level ofresources (human, material&financial)to make continualprogress towards the achievement of its strategies & objectives.Service Delivery & DevelopmentsTo maintain & develop the Hospices high standard of clinical and support care & services, takingprompt action to remedy anyunderperformance and prevent recurrence.

Ensuring allreporting returnsrequired under legislation,regulation and service contracts are submitted within the required timescales.Working with the board to ensurethat the Objects laid outin St Lukes Memorandum and Articles ofAssociation are met and that the Board of Trustees is informedtimely and appropriately in line withits governance policies to enablethe Board to takeinformedstrategic decisions and discharge theirduties effectively.To ensure thatboard meetingsare efficiently organised ina timely manner and that allnecessary board papers are in line with agreed standards to allow appropriateinformeddecisions to takeplace.To provide routine reporting to the board and agree any major changes to policy, procedures orplanswith the board.Arrangethe planning and production of theHospice StatutoryAnnual Report to be submitted for approvalat the Annual GeneralMeeting.To ensure allcorporate, clinical operationalpoliciesand procedures are developed,monitored andadhered to by members of staffand volunteers with recommendations forchanges to the WorkingGroups and board where appropriate.

Building and Developing Effective Relationships To communicate, influence and negotiateeffectively with NHS Trusts,Integrated Care Boards, Place Boards, other statutory bodies, hospices, charities and relevant bodies.
To maintain an effective communications and publicrelations strategy and a high profile for theHospice and its workwithin the local communities and stakeholders.
With the Chair, TrusteesandMembers of theSenior Management Team to act asan ambassador for the Hospice and represent it at local, regional and nationalforums.
Maximise thejoint working and opportunitieswith the End of Life Partnership.OtherDuties Ensurefull implementation ofInformation Governanceprinciples andpolicies at all levels ofthe organisation.
Any other duties commensurate withthe level of the post as directed by the Trustees.
Identify any personaltraining and development needs and agree anyaction with theChair of Trustees.PersonalDevelopment The post holder will be expected tomaintain high professional standards and keep abreast of professional issuesand best practice in their area of specialism.

Qualifications Essential Educated to Masters level and / or equivalent experience in a CEO or similar level role.
Experience Essential Knowledge of the Hospice and Care Sectors or not for profit organisations.
Experience of successful leadership and achievement at Board level in a multi-disciplinary organisation.
Extensive change management experience including the transformation of service provisions.
Extensive experience of visionary strategic thinking, planning & implementation.
Experience in developing and leading organisational development and embedding values, vision and ethos.
Extensive experience of working collaboratively with key stakeholders.
Extensive experience of inspiring, managing and leading staff and volunteers especially through times of change.
Considerable experience of developing and managing large scale budgets.
Experience of leading on development of best practice in relation to governance principles and compliance requirements within a business environment.
