To provide comprehensive invasive and non-invasive cardiac investigation services within the Trust, and to the local community. To deputize the Cardiac Physiologist Manager.
To deputize and take responsibility for the smooth running of the department in the absence of the Cardiac Clinical Physiologist Manager. To continuously support the development of a multi-skilled support team, in light of the national shortage. To lead in providing training programmes and teaching skills for junior physiologists.
To continuously update professional skills with new technology and services, thus maintaining high service standards.
To provide service audits. To actively be part of the demand and capacity process mapping in order to provide effectively generated services.
To support departmental research as and when required.

Improving representation at senior levels of staff with disabilities, from black, Asian, and ethnic minorities background, identify as LGBTQ+ and women, through improved recruitment and leadership development.Widening access (anchor institution) and employability.Improving the experience of staff with disabilities.Improving the EDI literacy and confidence of trust staff through training and development.Making equalities mainstream.Job responsibilitiesPerform and record comprehensive Echocardiogram studies on patients.Provide technical support for pacemaker implants to patients in theatre labs, including complex pacemaker testing, thresholds, impedance, sensitivity and stability, procedure documentation, monitoring patients' physiological signs, and final pacemaker interrogation and programming.Be Advance Life Support trained, with regular updates.Provide technical support for invasive transoesophageal echo (TOE) insertion of transducer into patients' throats (Doctor administers).Participate in stress echo studies, instruct patients, and consent them. Provide echo/ecg/BP monitoring services within the study, and be responsible for providing Dobutamine, atropine, contrast fluid, intravenous equipment, and defibrillation for the study.Perform ECG, Exercise stress testing, and reporting. Prepare and analyze 24-hour ECG tapes as required.Continue to develop a structured professional body of Cardiac Physiologists with an emphasis on multi-skill.Order stationary, drugs, pacemakers and investigate and negotiate competitive prices.Echocardiogram companies, maintenance, training, courses, products and updates.
Development of student training program involving ECG workshop, interpretation, evaluation and assessment of competencies.
Management and Work PlanningManage own work, staff, departmental services and patient care autonomously, liaising with clinicians and directorate managers if required. Adhere to the Trust's Disciplinary Policies. Serious breaches are discussed with line manager. Maintain 85% clinical and 15% management service.
Problem Solving and Decision MakingProvide technical support for faulty transducers or technical functions of Echocardiogram machines. Support patients' queries and complaints. Actively provide technical opinions and advice to all personnel. Lead and develop training programmes for students or support Cardiac physiologists. Set protocols and routinely inform and advise selected mentors and supervisors to maintain programme process.
Audit all services as required. Data generated will be used to identify demand and capacity within the department. Support process mapping of work input/output. Work closely in developing computerized systems, creating efficient data and electronically generated appointment services throughout the department.
Responsible for all cardiac service equipment, such as defibrillators, echo machines, etc.
Additional InformationThis role is clinical, educational, and deputy managerial. The skills required for this post will be to provide high standard applications to both disciplines, efficiently and effectively. Depending on the capacity and demand of the department, both skills are equally important and will need to be utilized for the benefit of the patients and the Trust managers.
Any other appropriate duties in consultation with the post holder under the direction of the Cardiac Physiologist Manager.

£46,148 to £52,809 a year plus HCA.
