Senior Engineer - Structural Analysis Supercar and Automotive United Kingdom In this role, you will lead structural analysis efforts, guiding the engineering design of our products from initial concept to detailed development.
You will collaborate closely with the Vehicle Development team and coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely engineering support.
As a Senior CAE Engineer you will be: Strength and Performance Assessment: Evaluate the strength, stiffness, fatigue, and crash performance of components and vehicles through linear static and non-linear analyses using advanced software tools.
Conceptual Analysis and Calculations: Provide support to design teams by conducting conceptual analyses and hand calculations to develop and validate engineering designs, including optimisation and multi-body dynamics.
Load Case Definition: Define and report load cases for the vehicle and its subsystems, collaborating with the vehicle dynamics team to identify relevant road loads.
Attributes and Target Setting: Establish essential attributes for the vehicle and set both high-level and detailed performance targets in conjunction with the homologation team to meet certification requirements.
Testing and Validation Planning: Plan and define tests to objectively assess structural performance at various levels, ensuring alignment with specified attributes and reporting results to project stakeholders.
CAE Task Management: Oversee Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) tasks by managing documentation, providing updates to stakeholders, and preparing detailed reports on CAE progress.
Testing Support: Assist in testing efforts by ensuring compliance with requirements and guiding the vehicle development team in validating components and subsystems using standardised methods.
Development of Calculation Tools: Spearhead the creation of tools for repetitive calculations, promoting standardisation and improved processes to enhance efficiency in structural analysis.
Correlation of Data: Ensure alignment of design tools and methods with certified data to accurately represent the real-world behaviour of structures.
As a Senior CAE Engineer you will have: Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Automotive Engineering, or a related field (Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD) Experience in structural analysis (stress, stiffness, fatigue, optimization) within high-performance automotive, motorsport, or aerospace sectors Proficient in simulation software, especially Altair's Hyperworks suite or similar tools Practical knowledge of nCode Design Life software Familiarity with analyzing test data and correlating it with CAE results Understanding of FEA material characterization for metals and composites Experience in both conceptual and detailed design across vehicle functions Advanced skills in MS Excel Preferred experience with scripting/programming languages like Python or tools such as Matlab Piques your interest?
