Location: Lazonby, Cumbria Salary: From £30k per annum Job Type: Full Time, Permanent About Us: We are an established family bakery with a taste for quality, having created delicious products for over 75 years.
We produce baked goods for retail and food service.
We operate two bakeries: a conventional Bakery and a dedicated Gluten, Wheat and Milk Free Bakery avoiding 12 out of the 14 notifiable allergens.
We specialise in cake and sweet pastry tart products and supply all the major UK retailers with ambient Free From Ranges and a number of the leading Coffee Shop Chains with ambient and frozen ranges.

We are RSPO Accredited, Vegan Society approved, and Coeliac society approved Buyer - The Role: This is an excellent opportunity to join a fast-paced food manufacturing environment.
As a key member of the team, you will provide essential support to ensure the smooth operation of the buying process.
You will work closely with the procurement team, liaising with suppliers, and work collaboratively with a cross-functional team within the company.
Buyer - Key Responsibilities: - Support and implement procurement strategy, whilst contributing to the continuous improvement of procurement processes - Conduct market research to identify and evaluate new suppliers and products, that aligns with the business strategy and objectives - Compiling and analysing data related to purchasing activity to support the decision-making - Conduct supplier negotiations to secure best price, quantity, delivery, and terms - Build and maintain existing supplier relationships, as well as developing new ones - Support and lead tenders, projects, implementing procedures, and running meetings - Work collaborative with cross functional teams to deliver business needs and projects - Handle and manager supply chain issues as when they arise - Support New Product Development with coordinating with suppliers and internal teams, with sourcing new products, bringing from concept to market - Carrying out administrative task, preparing and managing any necessary documentation - Monitor and manage supplier performance, including quality and delivery Buyer - You: - Demonstrated negotiation skills and commercial awareness - Ability to make decisions - Ability to cope with pressure and adapt to different situations - Good analytical and problem-solving skills - IT skills, including Microsoft office and ERP systems - Able to work well in a team - Strong organisational skills - A willingness to learn Buyer - Benefits: - 33 days' annual leave including Bank Holidays - Company Sick Pay - Access to an Employee Assistance Programme through Health Assured - Cycle to Work Scheme - Corporate Gym membership - Employee Forums - Free onsite parking - Discounted cakes - Death in Service Scheme - Employee Assistance program - Shopping discounts If you are successful, we will undertake the relevant pre-employment checks after you have been offered a job, this includes verifying your right to work in the UK, and where relevant verifying your driving.
