Business Intelligence Developer Overall Role Objectives: As part of this transformation, our client is building a new data team that plays a critical role in delivering insights to the business and supporting key functions such as data migration and data management.
They are looking for a dynamic and skilled Business Intelligence Developer to join this team, working to build, optimise, and manage our clients data infrastructure to drive business decisions.
This role will involve both business intelligence development and data engineering tasks, including the creation of data models, dashboards, and reporting solutions, as well as contributing to the establishment of the gold medallion data layer for advanced analytics.
You will work closely with our clients SQL developers and systems experts to ensure they consume data from the source systems in the right way, and then work with customers and other Business Intelligence Developers to design, maintain, develop and deploy the reports for the organisation.
Reporting to the Head of Data you will be integral to delivering the Data strategy that is the catalyst for how our client supports the DX programme and how they will manage and utilise data to help grow the business.
You will produce meaningful reports for internal use and will act as a champion for Power BI within the business.
As such, this role would be well-suited to someone who is extremely passionate about storytelling with data, and who loves getting others excited about the benefits this can bring.
You'll provide support coverage when issues occur - acting as 3rd line support to our clients Service Delivery team providing assistance and/or documentation as needed.
Tasks/Responsibilities Systems As a Business Intelligence Developer, you'll help our client transform the way they consume insight by: Leading the build and maintenance of a suite of products that provide insight and data across the organisation.
Work with the Portfolio, IT and Business teams to gather and understand the business requirements, rules and logic and document them to enable development of effective outputs (reports, dashboards etc).
Working with other experts to ensure we consolidate data and best deliver a robust reporting layer that will meet the organisations reporting and analytical needs now, and in the future.
Making sure we have high quality, structured data flowing from source systems to our reporting presentation layer so we can deliver accurate and timely insight to those that need it.
Ensuring that data quality and security is considered throughout any systems change in the Company, from system design right through to the insight they deliver.
Work closely with the data engineers to build robust, scalable data pipelines and data models to support the gold layer of the data architecture.
Support the migration and transformation of legacy data into the new data platform as part of Company digital transformation.
Use your existing experience with ERPs to understand reporting requirements for the 'To-be' platforms.
Deliver the BI roadmap, platform and practices to ensure effective report creation, self-service capability (as appropriate) and secure data handling in line with GDPR.
Champion BI and Data Analytics capability across organisation.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on BI priorities and strategies.
Help define Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and assist/build dashboards and auto-reports.
Other duties as are within the scope and spirit of the job and the title of the position that may arise from time to time or as required by management.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience Essential Current Power BI development experience to include deep understanding of PBI Desktop, PBI Service and content distribution.
A strong understanding of data management platforms and BI lifecycle, approaches, tools and techniques.
You will have extensive experience and working knowledge of SSMS or Azure Data Studio, dimensional data modelling, Kimball methodology techniques and building data structures for consumption and presentation via Power BI (and using DAX).
Enjoys writing efficient and robust SQL code to deliver the agreed dimensional data model which will be used to deliver the reporting for the organisation.
Experience with gathering reporting requirements and developing plans to deliver them.
Ability to translate complex reporting requirements into effective dashboards and reports.
Ability to articulate data analytics practices to stakeholders.
Keen attention to detail to ensure outputs are correct.
Ability to upskill team members to proficiency in gathering reporting requirements and Power BI development and support.
Identify methods to validate data to ensure accuracy of output reports/dashboards.
Have a track record of delivering high-quality reporting and analytics on time and on budget, with a keen attention to detail and a focus on being better every day.

Have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and can effectively convey complex technical and business concepts to stakeholders at all levels.

You will be used to working to project timescales and using project delivery tools such as Azure DevOps.
You understand how data should be consumed and structured throughout each level of ingestion and transformation to a presentation layer to deliver business intelligence reporting.
Confident working with data from an ERP, with experience of working from D365 being beneficial for our project work.
Experience of data lineage testing to ensure data quality throughout the ETL process and can check their work as they develop.
Strong collaborative mindset with a willingness to work across various teams.
Passion for continuous learning and staying on top of new developments in BI and data technologies.
Proactive, self-driven, and adaptable to change as part of the Company digital transformation journey.
Desirable Strong academics (university degree in the field of computer science, information systems, and/or equivalent work experience).
Experience with MS Dataverse, Data Factory or SSIS, and the Azure Data Platform.
Experience with MS D365 Finance &Operations, Customer Experience.
Fabric, Azure Synapse, Data Management including data governance, data quality, metadata management, and data privacy (MS Purview).
Microsoft certifications PL-300 Power BI Data Analyst Associate or DP-600 Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate would be a benefit.
