ROLE SUMMARY The role is responsible for developing new business opportunities across EMEA region for Zeolyst International (ZI).
The Business Development Manager will proactively identify, develop, and ultimately commercialize new business opportunities within both existing and new customers globally.
The focus will be on broadening ZI's market reach and capabilities, leveraging its world-leading technology platforms across various sectors.
This role includes a small portion of Account Management responsibilities, ensuring ongoing customer satisfaction and growth.
The primary metrics for success will be the development and commercialization of new business opportunities, making this role ideal for a true hunter with drive to win.
RESPONSIBILITIES Proactively analyze the EMEA market to identify current and future customer needs, enabling ZI to discover and capitalize on new growth opportunities by leveraging its existing technology portfolio and developing innovative solutions.
Develop customers and the New Business Development pipeline and proactively manage all steps of the pipeline towards commercialization.
Collaborate closely with the ZI R&D team in Conshohocken, PA, to deliver customer-driven solutions that align with both current and future market demands.
Drive the creation of internal business cases that clearly define potential commercial opportunities, investment timeframes, risks, mitigations, and strategic fit within the ZI SBU.
Engage with multiple stakeholders within customer organizations, including R&D, Production, Purchasing, and Product Management, to ensure timely adoption of new innovations.
Represent ZI at industry-specific conferences, exhibitions, and technology insight events to increase visibility within the market sector and generate future leads.
Identify and evaluate potential collaboration partners to deliver new opportunities more rapidly and cost-effectively.
Establish and manage relationships with commercial agents, distributors, and technical partners to optimize routes to market across the EMEA region.
Continuously monitor the market for potential inorganic growth opportunities, including acquisitions, joint ventures, or partnerships, and present these to the ZI Senior Leadership team.
Note: This role requires a travel commitment of approximately 40% of the time.
Most of the travel required will be within Europe, plus occasional international requirements.
Other responsibilities may be added as deemed appropriate by management.
EDUCATION A BSc degree in Chemistry, Materials Science or Chemical/Process Engineering background is essential.
Other educational backgrounds will be considered, provided the candidate demonstrates significant relevant experience and expertise in business development and preferably the catalysts industry.
PhD in catalysis or relevant fields is desirable.
EXPERIENCE 5+ years of career experience, including at least 1-2 years in Business Development.
Experience in the catalysts industry, with a solid background in commercial, R&D, or marketing disciplines.
Proven international business experience, particularly within the EMEA region.
Strong scientific understanding of materials and catalysts, with applications across various segments such as Emission Control, Chemicals and Petrochemical, or Renewables.
Demonstrated success in identifying and implementing partnership and joint development agreements with customers and co-stakeholders.
Experience working cross-functionally and vertically within an organization to drive innovative opportunities through project management.
Expertise in contract development and complex risk management strategies related to new business development activities.
Strong analytical skills, with a proven ability to analyze data, build business cases and value propositions, and execute projects within defined timelines and KPIs.
